Paul,

Bentley Publishers has Technical Manual, Porsche Carrera 964: 1989 - 1994 Technical Data. You might try John Miles' site, http://www.porsche964.co.uk/ there are some common issues that are addressed there as well as a link to Amazon where you could order the Bentley manual.

I think that all of us 964 owners are waiting for Adrian Streathers book.

The Factory Manual covers 964 non-Turbo's, including the RS. As I recall, one section devoted to the RS discusses the body changes, additional welds, etc. Otherwise it's pretty much the same information for non-Turbo 964's.

The Bentley manual mentioned above is a combination of pieces from the Factory Manual and Technical Specs guide. While not a Factory Manual substitute, it's got alot of good information in it (full disclosure note, I, along with others here, helped edit it). Note the Bentley manual doesn't cover the RS, so you won't see any RS specs, however, most information is applicable (you can see what it covers at the Bentley web site www.rb.com).

Technical Specifications booklet is worth having, as it covers all 964 models with specs and tightening torques.

Books to consider are Paul Frere's "Porsche 911 Story", Bruce Anderson's "Porsche 911 Performance Handbook", Peter Morgan's "The Original Porsche 911", and others. Of these, the Paul Frere book probably has the most detailed RS treatment.

Articles like "Lightweight Carrera Confusion", originally in Panorama and reprinted in the PCA "Up-Fixin" volume X, and I believe reprinted on a website, covers the specs and differences between the Carrera RS, C2, RS America, and American Cup Car. If you can find a Porsche press kit for Carrera RS introduction, that will have lots of good specifications in it. They show on ebay periodically.

The factory manual only lightly covers the LHD RS. The RHD RSs and the touring models are not covered. You have to know the exact differences between models to know what you need. You have to understand what you have as well. Club sport versions of the RS are different again and this data can be obtained from Porsche Motorsports who make them. Well did make them.
I wish that things were simple but due to the expense of all these books I would recommend you rpovide a little explanation of what you actually own first.
I also advise you wait until my book comes out (shameless self interest) because I cover all of these issues related to the RS and then if you still need more info you will be in a better situation to decide.
Ciao,
Adrian

Default Thanks for all the info guys W/manual

Yes I will look forward to the launce of the new book.
Thanks for all the advise guys.

I have a pretty good idea of what I own, ( I think ) originally I was looking for just the RS lightweight but after talking to Colin Belton, he of Ninemister and who operates and lives within 5 miles of me said I would need the clubsport.

I Hillclimbed and sprinted my Mitsibushi Evo for a couple of seasons and more recently a Ralt F3 car in the the British Sprint Championships but got tired of all the hard work and so little seat time.

I have decided trackdays may suit me better.

The Clubsport seems perfect, funny thing is I sold my BMW M3 E46, SMG ect to finance the RS purchase.

Most of my friends think I'm mad......

They just don't get it .. do they.
