Would you trade your 964 for a longhood?
I see a really sweet early 70's model 911 in my town. I was thinking if he said he would trade me straight up ... Must decide right now!
What would you do? ( dont think about resale/ value)

Well.....given we know nothing about this other car....and assuming it is a longhood....and he has no idea that his car is worth at least double yours (if it's a T, and much, much more if it's an E or S) then yes I'd do it.

Don't do it!
You'll have to drive it on modern highways where the base Toyota Sienna can out-accelerate and out-brake it.
Unless you are a museum curator nothing beats a 964, dynamically, aesthetically, and carry-your-wife-and-[up to to two]-kids-without-guiltily.

Its hard to ignore value here because if its like KenD says, and he offers to trade you straight up, then he essentially handing you a big *** check which you should take.

I have driven a T and while fun to be seen in and a novelty to drive (once) I'd not want to swap it for my 964. No guts, poor brakes, not so great suspension, pretty decent handling for it's age is how I recall it

I own one of each, and use the 964 daily and the '71 is for dry days as they don't have good rustproofing. My '71 is a hot rod so it goes and brakes like stinky but it's still louder, doesn't have A/C or ABS and is not as nice daily.

Two VERY different cars at opposite ends of the balance: you need to take-away from the 964 to get it to work like the long hood; you need to add to the long hood to get it like the 964. In other words, if you seek more feedback, lightness, visceral sensation, and ultimately put forth more effort, the long hood is your car. The refinement of the 964 takes away a fair portion of all that but it's a quicker car with less driver effort. You'd learn to like each for what it is.

Yes I would trade my imaginary 964 in for a 73 RSR long hood, which I would subsequently sell and then use the funds to purchase 23.375 964s or a platinum plated hero sandwich. Just because I could.

No... Sticking with the 964.
In my opinion the 964 is the ultimate package.
That's subjective of course.
What I can say is that I've driven almost every mainstream model starting from a 71 model T, and I find the 964 the most fun on the road.
