A huge part of the singer price tag is the impeccable attention to the very fine details. I think it would be easier to get the performance and even driving refinement of a singer than to replicate all of the surfaces and finish detai.

See post 28 that is what I'm thinking.

I am not an advocate for extensively modifying clean cars since so few are left in original condition. I used a basket case to build my car. But an RSR tribute is hard to say no to in any color and if done properly will be worth more than a clean 964. I said I would never sell my max moritz built 74 IROC clone but after 19 years I gave in. It was worth trading it in for the turbo 3.6 but never say never the day will come you will sell.
I would love to do a complete clone but as you said the costs would be prohibitive but what a ride it would be.
As far as singer the finishing touches are nice but for me with less than half the cost of a singer I could have a perfect 3.8RSR clone using factory parts painted in cobalt blue for street use that would IMO be worth far more in every way. Half the bling of a singer is pointless and from the ones I have seen I have no doubt I could build something as nice for a fraction of the cost. My interior might not be as fancy but the fit and finish is comparable. As far as the engine a 4.0 liter would be nice and they did a fantastic job with that 4.0L. That would look fantastic in the back of an RSR without the leather sound deadening of course.
BTW the tribute you posted in post 28 is a great idea just do me a favor and have the headlight washers and front plate mounting holes filled before you paint. AN RSR doesn't have headlight washers. LOL

This is why the experts will be looking over my thoughts - little touches like this!
Never understood the fascination with singer and rwb. If I ever go the route of making major mods that cost major bucks I want my car to be a total sleeper. Imo it's always better to look slow and be fast. I love what Emory is doing with the 356. I'd love some of that.
