Its incredible there are times that I actually pick the 964 rather than the RS for a drive. Never thought that would ever be possible. The 964 seems to get just as much attention as the RS which I didnt think was possible considering it orange. The 964 just feels like true classic car. My neighbors kids calls it my antique car!

Bad picture lol. I'm out of town at the moment and wife is kinda pissed she has to park on the street. We live by the beach and parking spots are a hot commodity. It will soon be living at the shop while I transform it into this crazy idea I have.

Sweet! My wife has never seen the inside of our garages. Even as we look for an upgrade she understands more room for me to keep the cars at home. I'm interested to see what you come up with. I have been so on the fence on what to do. Other than the wheels and PS110 the car is 100% original and impeccable condition with 125k miles on it. Incredible story behind the car and previous owner and it has every single service record since day one. I'm really torn into making it a fire breathing, tire smoking *** kicking monster; from the inside only. From the outside I want it too look the same a total sleeper. Should i be concerned modifying such an original car? But it does have lots of miles so no real collector would be interested in such a car I suppose. Plus I need to maintain the back seat my kids would kill me if they couldnt ride along. Really torn...I guess this is what they call first world problems. Anyway sorry if my venting hijacked your thread for bit. Good luck and maybe what you do will inspire me.

Great article in a past issue of Total 911 says the same thing:
http://www.total911.com/porsche-964-...lood-brothers/
...On paper, this shouldn’t even be close. They may both be united under Porsche’s fabled Rennsport banner, but the statistics suggest these are two markedly different beasts; 18 years and nearly 200hp separates these virtuosi...

Keep driving it, the answer will come to you.

That's the answer right there.

911Jetta

Ironic that you post that photo as that is basically the inspiration for the car I just bought. PO did a nice job of adding upgrades to get pretty far that direction. RSA seats and door cards, Cup I's (8's and 9.5's), Bilsteins and H&R's, cat bypass and primary bypass, etc. etc.

While it does have the rear seat delete, and lightweight carpet, I'm putting some seatbelts in the back so my kids (9 and 12) can ride along safely.

Very fortunate the car "found me".

Congrats on the new car. Wow, very well set up... jealous of the 8' CupI's! Very nice find.

Call me crazy but if my RS had a back seat it would be the ultimate car!

Its YOUR car! Done well, modded cars do sell for good $. If you do basics, most of the stuff is bolt ons. Like seats, interior panels, dampers, proper alignment, etc. Buddy has an RS narrow body tribute type car that is VERY nice, and it would take some work but returning to stock doable.

I got a very original car. It has 94k miles. Its very clean, its rust free. It wasn't cheap. But, the engine and tranny were just done, and that was a $$ bill. So I chose solid platform vs. cheap, as I'm a firm believer you will spend the $ in the end to make it right. (in this case, maybe I'd have saved 10-15k for a car that was tattered... not worth it!) It also allows me to skip doing a big 3.8+ until the body and suspension are done. For a street car, weight + suspension are so key, almost over power as these cars are already fast enough.

What I 'want' to do is an RSR street car tribute. I may drive it on track, it will be fully capable. Done well, proper. Not a clone (that's just too much $ to get all RSR original parts). So yes, will be dumping a lot of $ into a perfectly good street car, cutting it up, painting it, modding the hell out of it.

I don't buy cars to resell. I buy to drive and keep, so resell isn't even on my mind.

Something like this (no full cage though, but welded in rear cage modeled after RSR)

Once I get the plan build, and start date I'll post a build thread. This is going to take a year probably... will be FUN!!!

I'm with you on buying a car to drive. This car will never be something I need to sell or ever make any real money on so may as well make it what I want. I kind of feel like that about the RS as well. Truth is the stock 964 seat are just so darn comfy that I could easily drive this thing cross country; like the RS adaptive seats. Part of the reason I have never swapped the seat. I had buckets in my .2RS and it was tough to drive for any long period of time. I was thinking of swapping my 964 seats for pole position seats but I'm worried it will make the car a lot tougher to drive long distance. Planning drive to Vancouver in it next summer. Could always buy another to ticker with! Decisions decisions.
