How to remove a 964 rear quarter window
#16
Did everyone use the sealing strap 00004312900 that goes under the black trim when putting the windows back in or is there an alternative? Is that the dum dum or sealant? I'd hate to buy a 10 meter roll just for the meter needed and trash the rest.

I think this is the fabric tape between the body shell, plastic washers and trim metal. I'm reusing mine.

Question is how difficult to put back in the windows. Tried putting those windows in a D.Moris hardtop and it is not easy. Still do not have them in (though I do not have an engine right now so not a big deal).

With the new seals the windows are a right **** to put back in.
You'll be looking a one person on the outside throwing their full bodyweight at it, whilst the second works the seal around from the inside, with string and a plastic scraper.

Start at the front and make sure the rubber is deep enough in the frame. Then go with the bottom for a good seat and a water tight fit, then the rear tip and the top to finish.
Push HARD on the glass to get it as deep in its place as can be.
The glass may seem in place, with the lip in place, but can sit too proud in its opening, allowing for leaks and wind noises if it is not covered by the door window frame.

Removed the rear windows last week.
I used such a set of plastic levers (correct wording?) from ebay for windows and clipsed parts from the car...
Took me 5min alone for one rear quarter window...

I think the rubber has shrunk as there is a large gap from the very back of the window to the body.
So the rubber is junk IMHO so would replace it anyway, so I would assume it's just easier to cut it to get the window out.
As always I really appreciate all comments.
