My 89 C4 964 Almost Finished, going 4.1!
Been working on this one since January. When I picked the car up it was a solid 200K mile daily driver. Mechanically the car was very solid, having the engine freshened up 60K miles before, and a lot of work done underneath, like bushings, rack, tie rods and etc, just before I bought it.
The outside was a bit weathered, so I started there. A huge tree limb had fallen and hit the front fender, so that was addressed and the whole car was stripped and painted. While it was apart I did a new head liner, and all new weather stripping/ window rubber, and replaced the windshield. I also replaced the dash at the same time. Pretty much all the exterior was freshened up, and I am very happy with the work that my old high school buddy did on the paint. He has done work on all my older Porsches, but the 964 was kind of modern for him :-)
As the car sits now I am recovering the seats, and have already replaced the carpet. When the material arrives the seats will be done in a couple of days, and I can call it finished. I have a set of Cup 1's for it, too. I just need to weld a couple of spots up on them and repair the curb rash, then refinish them. I love Cup 1's on a 964!
Looking to the future, I have pulled a 964 engine core from my stash and will use it to build up my 4.1 liter Track Performer with. This way the original matching numbers engine remains stock, and I'll sit it on the top shelf and pickle it. I figure that I'll go through the transaxle when I swap over to the 4.1.
I've enjoyed this one, and look forward to finishing the engine, its ready to bolt together now. I just have to finish the big valve, ported heads. I'll post some pics of that as I build it up.

Using welded 964 heads with my L4 CNC ports. Haven't decided on which valves to use yet. I am doing a port flow study next week, which will make that determination.
Stock stroke and 106.3mm bore with LN Nickies. These proprietary big boys are one of my benefits of helping found LN, and being their developer since day one :-)

My interior work is done by Murdock's Auto Upholstery in Brevard NC. I've known him since my VW days and he does awesome work at a more than fair price.

The paint job was a smoking deal for the quality of the job. If anyone is interested I can share his contact info. You'll have to wait in line behind me though, I have a personal car there pretty much all the time.

No, I just bought the hides and he used my old covers as patterns. He doesn't buy generic seat covers, he likes to fully sew his own (with French seams) and the result is much better. I also had the foam replaced, since I drive my cars a lot, I wanted the seats firmed up again. He's doing my door panels with the same hides, mine were trashed, so we made new ones from ABS plastic, and he will cover them.
