My spoiler isn't going down and I'm not in a position to take it in to the shop for a couple weeks. Any suggestions to check to try and fix? Is there any harm in driving with the spoiler up (only drive it a few miles on the weekend) until I take it in?
In my case the spoiler was erratic. Sometimes it would work, other times it would not retract, but would always work manually on the switch, in my case it was the controller.
No issues with leaving it up. Can you still close it with the manual switch?
Appreciate this might sound silly but where's the manual switch!??
I recently bought the car and live overseas so only get to drive it a bit as and when I get back home. Am not there now but can get someone to check if I know where to check!
Looking forward to getting more time to learn about the car.
Did your spoiler make a lot of noise when going up and down?
Mine growled until it didn't work any longer...
A couple months back it started behaving erratically, sometimes it would go up at speed and other times it wouldn't. I could always manually lower it via the console switch, but not always manually raise it.
The spoiler motor was very noisy.
The problem was that the main bearing (at the end of the worm drive) had completely rusted through. The disintegrated bearing would no longer keep the worm gear in contact with the large cog gear.
