Default 993 Big Brake conv question

Hey everyone,

Spencer at SST is putting a 993 big red kit in 3 weeks (video coming) but we are trying to get the exact measurements (aka how much bigger or wider they are from stock) so that i can get 18's made from 1552 outlaw 3 piece. We are worried those specific wheels might not fit on 18's, so we are trying to get specs so that I can talk to the wheel guys soon. Takes awhile to make the wheels so it might have to sit on blocks as my 16's definitely won't fit and my 17's "might not fit".... So then I'm with wheels. Any ideas?

-Larry

Your 17" Cups will fit on 993TT Big reds.

Cobalt can lend you one of his many 964s! Just he's pretty serious about keeping them clean

Larry,
I had only 4mm between the back of the wheel 17's and my standard caliper on Outlaws. I think Dan had even less on 18's.....

Any wheel that fits a 964RS or 964Cup will work fine, the RS/Cup uses a caliper/rotor set that is a very close approximation of the 993 big red set.

there is a few mm difference in rotor o/s between the 964 and 993, the 964 o/s 322mm rotor have a few mm more room because the hats are a few mm taller

Spencer knows his stuff but I hope that 993 brake booster and 993 regular rear calipers are in the plans, removing the p/v would also help.

If anything a small spacer should allow the 17's to clear. Does this mean you're not going to be using the D90s for track anymore?

Have 1552 measure a set of front Cup Is. That's as tight as it gets, especially if you run 993TT rotors, since they sit an additional 5mm outboard. It's very close but it works. What adapters are you using for the front calipers? That will determine whether to go w. 965 or 993TT rotors.

Larry's car is a C4.

What's the best practice in that case, since you're not gonna be able to install a 993 C2 master cylinder and brake booster on there. 993 C4 master cylinder?

Are the hydraulic booster pumps and other components different between the 964 C4 and 993 C4 different?

This. Mine was sitting on this setup all winter long. You'll be fine until the new wheels come in.

That's different, 964C4 already has the 23.8mm master cylinder(same size as the 993m/c), a 25.4mm m/c from a 964RS should bolt in and would be a nice but not necessary upgrade. Still want the 993 normal rear calipers and remove the p/v

I never looked carefully at the differences between 964 and 993 electro hyd boosters, they appear to be the same at first glance. Both 964RS and 993RS are based on a n/b AWD tub

there are several different varieties of caliper adapter, depending on the rotor o/s and diameter. You need to specify what rotor is being used to get the correct adapters.

Of course you could also use 964t/RS steel wheel carriers or 993 aluminum wheel carriers and not use any caliper adapter. You then use 964 or 928 rotors w/ the 964 carriers and 993 rotors w/ 993 carriers
