Bilstein HD shocks
#16
I just had them installed on mine last week and picking it up tomorrow. If you can hold off for about a week I can give you my full street opinion. I had set a few years back on a 997 turbo and loved it on the street and track. I don't mind a little rougher ride. My daily 991s feels like a Lincoln to me too soft.

Bilstein HD's with stock springs recommended?
Hi All,
Do any of your have experience with upgrading your 964 with Bilstein HD's but keeping your stock springs?
Or will stock springs affect the ride poorly and I need to upgrade to new springs?
I am not interested in lowering my 964 WTL coupe. (1994)
Thanks,
Quinn

I was in another RL'ers 993 with Bilstein PSS10s at 5 setting and it was very nice, firm but not too harsh and perfect I thot for the street....I have Bilstein HDs with M030s on my Targa and I think not too comfy for daily street/commute driving

I've had Bilstein HD's w/ stock springs for a number of years and the ride is excellent with much better "suspension control" than with the stock Boge's. I autocross in a stock class that does not allow different springs.

I actually just got mine back from the shop for pss10 super happy with it and totally streetable. Started up at the 5 setting but then moved up to 7. I like a firm ride. Car handles unbelievably well.

The PSS10's did require a upper mount adaptor as Steve noted, but for your car they would bolt on directly. Mine are set on #3, which is soft, but works great on the street with a very confident and planted feel while being comfortable over rough street surfaces.
A great setup which gives you some range of adjustment if you want to go more aggressive and be able to set ride height and corner balance the car.
