Seat rocks
My seats have been in and out several times and I know they are secured and without damage.
I have always assumed this was simply due to high negative G forces causing some sprung free play in the travel screw mechanism to slightly unload and then return to the set position.
The effect is kind of like the weightless feeling you get momentarily in an elevator when it drops and stops. It feels weird, but there is no danger.
I assumed this phenomenon was limited to power seats.
Please post the results of your investigation.
I had a new bushing made on a lathe by my mech. With a 3d printer you could do the same if someone could scan the bushing for re-production. It's pretty easy to replace if you know where it is. I'll have a look for a picture, but probably can't really get to it with the seat bolted down.
Sorry, I'm not removing the seat for a pic. Got work consuming me for the next 10 days and then off on a 5 week trip.
I'm sure someone else can help with a pic from the seat mechanism to locate what's missing.
Hope this helps.
There is a plastic bushing sitting on the worm gear of the power seat. The seat itself is mounten with sort-of a U-bracket. Its either the plasic shrinkage or wear on the bracket, but this connection gets play over time, letting your seat rock forward or backward just slightly (but hell annoying).
My fix was closing the U-bracket with some solid pliers. Did that 2 years a go or so and never felt the rocking again until now...
