i've had two prior cars stolen so these posts make me sick to my stomach. too many of these cars have been lifted lately which indicates pros are at work. i don't think there is any way to thwart flatbeds...the only solution is immediate detection and tracking.

Anybody consider adding a gps tracker with a back up battery? To me that seems like the best solution.

I do recall someone in London who got their RS stolen in a nice part of town saying that they now have some sort of tool that allows them to detect trackers and disable them. Just terrible news. Hope you find it soon!

The GPS tracking I am referring to is basically using cell signals. So unless they coming with a 20' container to pick up your car it'll work.

There are a number of Cell and GPS Jammers availible for sale that limit the effectiveness of most tracking alarms. Again the amateur thief who breaks windows and uses a screwdriver may not use one, but organized theft rings have the latest and greatest to ****** a car. Often they are out searching for target vehicles and if it was taken from its home - chances are they were watching. Best prevention is looking for those that don't belong in your neighborhood or the out of place car that has been there a couple of days.

I have watch professional bike thieves in NYC roll up in a van and lift and load a bike inbetween the red and green signal lights.

I am not saying alarms, trackers, LoJack arent useful, infact anything to draw attention to the crime even for a second is worthwhile, but professional rings have the portable tools to defeat most if not all systems with relative ease.

It is horrible that it was taken, I hope this car is found quickly.

Thieves deserve a good old fashioned crowbar to the knee caps.

My buddy was moving into a new house a couple weeks ago and as he is making trips from the inside of the house to the moving truck, someone stole his dirtbike out of his garage. The boldness of that criminal is unbelievable.

I hope we find your buddies car.

Used to be when a man stole another mans horse he robbed him of his lively hood and considered a serious crime. Car theft today is a slap on the wrist.

Hmmmm. If GPS is too easy to circumvent, maybe a system that repeatedly taps into any and all available WIFI networks and sends an email? I think this technology is already at work for stolen cell phones. Of course someone will or maybe already has found a way to jam WIFI signals.......

Aside from chaining the car down or hiring a guard, not a lot you can do. A self destruct feature might deter these guys after a few have been blown to smitherines.........but I hate to see a Porsche go like that!

May be worth calling LA Dismantlers and letting them know if anything comes in for sale. Also, there are others in the LA area like Indy shops, mod shops (Singer) and others. May be worth just letting them know.

Not sure this will help at all but best of luck... I would love to see whoever did this get some "street justice".

I carried around an elementary school ID photo card for about 15 years because it was super cute and especially amazing at picking up chicks While at University, I had this girlfriend that went into my wallet and stole it/borrowed it without telling me and immediately after she had her wallet stolen along with my ID....I was soooo pissed.

I am reminded of that story when I think that there were so few 964s sold in Canada....and to have one exported and then stole is a crime in itself....WE NEED TO FIND THIS CAR AND BRING IT BACK TO CANADA!

Holy ****. Now I'm starting to understand why so many people in my neighborhood (West Hollywood) have motorized gates in front of their driveways. I haven't really considered getting a LoJack-type system for my 964, since I figured most vehicle theft is motivated by super common makes they can part out easily (and it's parked in my garage 95% of the time)... But recently it seems like there's an epidemic of high end car theft by professional crews, and like most people have already said, they can easily break into a 2015 Mercedes and ship it off to Eastern Europe. I doubt a 90s Porsche would give them much trouble.

I have a sixth sense for spotting 964s around town, so if I see a matching description C4 I'll reach out.

This is becoming an epidemic in So Cal, if I lived down there I would be paranoid. Hope the guy gets his car back but it doesn't seem likely.
