I'm back in a Porsche!!!
I sold my 90 c2 coupe a couple of months ago and promised my wife I'd drive my BMW untill next spring. So my story to her went something like this:
"Well this was just such a great deal I had to buy it. Think of it as an investment, I could sell it next spring and make enough to pay for the arbor we just had built over our deck. You will look great driving it and it is an automatic, so I'm really getting it for you!"
She didn't buy any of it, so I'll be in the doghouse for a while, but on the up side, I bought a '91 c2 cab/tiptronic with 49k miles. It's my most favorite color of all time...amethyst over 2 tone light and dark grey. Of course it has all the books and records and an interesting side note: the original window sticke...$78,930!!! Anyone have one with a bigger sticker than that? I've never seen one, no wonder Porsche was in such trouble in the early 90s!
Not nuts about the tip, but I'm getting used to it. I had one several years ago and they aren't bad as long as your not at the track. It's a little bit of a chick car, but I'm not the beer swilling, arm wrestling, redneck type anyway so that's cool. Of course it has an oil leak somewhere on top so after spirited driving, I get a little smoke from the oil burning off the hot bits on the motor. It doesn't leak when sitting, only when it's running. Any advice on what that could be. P.O. (who knows under the hood things a lot better than me, after all I drive a purple car!!!) said something about the o-ring on cylinder #2. He tried to show me, but I couldn't tell what he was talking about.
I'll get some pics up as soon as I can (assuming my wife doesn't inform me that I'm living in it!!!
Good to be back (I think)

Oilslick964-
Sounds like a nice car! I had the same reaction to my Tip when I first got. While I haven't tracked it, I have done some autocross and I've held my own... I'll be interested to see what you think of the TIp 6 months from now...

Paul, welcome back to the "dark side"! Just the thought of going Porscheless gives me the shakes!
Porsche was in the shop last week for new shoes (SO-3s) and I had an older Maxima for a loaner for the day. Jeez, I thought that thing would never stop in two hard braking situations. Really scary!

Looks great to me, but definitely a colour that needs bright sunshine upon it to look its best.
Once again, as time passes, I become more and more convinced that the 964 is simply the best looking 911 ever. What a complete load of rubbish to hear some refer to it as the 'ugly duckling'.

Paul,
Nice looking ride you got their! Amethyst Metallic is one of my 2 favorite colours for the 964, along with Maritime Blue. I only wish I'd waited to find one in either of those colours. Black is good, but a chore to keep looking it's best.
All you need to do now, is to have it lowered a little, which IMHO, improves the stance of the 964 10 fold!

I love the color but then I am biased. My previous car was a '91 C2 cab Amethyst with Gray interior. Mine had a Magenta Dash and steering wheel and a Magenta top and cab boot. I will post a picture later.
I had many of the same comments on it being a 'chick car', but I also received volumes of compliments on the color all the time, especially at concours events.

Thanks for the compliments! I have previously owned a 1992 968 cab with the exact same color scheme (this car got more attention than any car I've ever owned) and a 1992 C4 coupe that was amethyst with black leather. I LOVE the color!
Maverick- I think I saw a car on ebay once that was amethyst with a full magenta interior. Very unique. I'd like to see some pictures of yours.
