Are you running at 2000rpm when taking the readings?
You should have a reading of +13,5 Volt
So it sounds OK....no under or overvoltage ;-)

Well, the reason I ask is because the battery died during the winter season. After changing the battery, my father (old VW mechanic) measured at the battery and how much it charged also when applying stress to the battery and the reading was too low he said. Therefore I though the alternator was gone and I ask my workshop to take a look at it. He said it put out 13.5-13.7 and that was okay, but the old man says it should supply 14 volt and that all alternators should deliver that.
