Default front engine tin replacement. How easy?

Afternoon good people.

I'm thinking about replacing the tin, front left and right. Its kind of almost disappeared to be honest, so I'm looking to understand the limitations of replacing this, with the engine in place, I have removed the rear mounts, so the engine has dropped a couple of inches.

Any tips, hints, or guides, much appreciated.

Thanks.

Kevin

its easy--although you'll need to remove the cat, primary and secondary mufflers.

i don't recall the exact sequence when i took mine out but i think the engine capsule pieces need to come off as well.

good luck.

are you sure youre not thinking of the rear tin?

The front tin looked nearly impossible when I did my rear, left and right ones.

arrgh! you're right....i should open my eyes and read the post. sorry about that. i didn't touch the forward tin either as it wasn't clear to me how to remove without dropping the engine.

I too didn't do the front tins myself as I'm pretty sure you need to take off the heat exchangers which wouldn't be a pleasant job with the engine still in the car.

Thanks guys, rear tin easy, left and right tin, in reasonable shape so no need to bother, front tin, well iron oxide more like. Just looking to get everything in ship shape and Bristol fashion...

I dropped my engine about 6-8 inches to replace some seals.

Front passenger side tin will come out if you bend the bottom section without removing the header. There is one bolt at the top you can barely see, otherwise I think theres 3-4 bolts total holding it on.

he driver's side, there is NO WAY that sucker is coming out without removing the exhaust, so I left it on. Unfortunately, this one looked the worse.
