Default Car won't start...sometimes.

My car won't start sometimes after short trips. It's always good on a cold start but every 6th time or so it doesn't want to start. I put a new battery in and I still have the same problem. Any ideas?

Is it cranking the engine at a reasonable speed?

If it's cranking normally, check your fuel pressure regulator

It cranks normally it just doesn't turn over. It does act like it isn't getting fuel. But it's so intermittent. Is that how a fuel regulator would normally fail or all at once? I'm not sure how to answer the reasonable speed question. When it cranks normally, it's on the first turn of the key. When it's hard to start it cranks on the 20th turn of the key.

My car had the same problem on warm starts. I started by changing the fuel pump check valve, but that wasn't it. It turned out to be the fpr. Reach down and disconnect the vacuum line going to it and check for fuel in the line, that's usually the tell tale sign that it's bad.

I have had this happen, too. One every 3 months it cranks for 8-10 seconds before starting. Tthen will start up first time for next few months. Weird.

Same thing when mine was acting up, definitely worth checking.

I've also had this happen to me before. It doesn't happen very often. Only on warm starts. I'm gonna check the fpr out.

In case you're wondering how to change it:

I switched out the Dme relay today. We'll see. Everything I've read sounds like my problem.
