I like black D90's a lot, in particular on a black car.

Mine are far from pristine, and I also use them for winter tires (Conti DWS), but use MM Cup 1 replicas with Bridgestone RE050A's for the summer.

Having said that, I do miss the great ride quality that the 16's give me. The roads where I live are not terrible, but there is definitely a harshness penalty going from the 16's to the 17's. I recall years ago that Adrian Streather had agreed with a comment I made to that affect.

I have a separate set of 17 Carrera 2's for the track, so the 17 road wheels are just for looks. I would not at all mind having a set of black 16 D90's for a purely street set-up.

I do like the D90's, especially on the flag mirror cars. On my '90 C4 Targa I kept the 8's for the front and sourced a set of 9's for the rear. Went with 225/55 & 255/50 BFG's, the car sits on PSS10's lowered to euro ride height.
And black wheels just do not work for me, on anything.

That looks clean. Yeah, I like flag mirrors over the cup mirrors.

Those wheels look pretty good with the wider rears.

yeah, I like the look. I might just get my D90s out and have them refinished.

I had stacked them in the garage with a piece of plywood on top and had a nice bar height table for some cold ones. But after seeing this thread I will bring them out..with only 16"of wheel it gives you a lot of room for decals. Nah no thanks. I do like the black, though.

D90's are awesome. It's those silly letters, man I hate to be a hater, but I hope the tire lettering trend ends soon.

Are you talking about larry's car? He has the name of his detailing and car care products company on the sidewalls...I say good for him. Looks cool and fantastic way to advertise. Especially with the blacked out d90's....just my 2 cents...

Yes. The tire lettering trend is horrid. The blacked out D90's otherwise look awesome. Larry is awesome don't get me wrong. Just my opinion.

I just scored a second cheap set of D90's a couple of days ago , I love the look of them and just have fun refinishing them in different colours without worrying about value or trends.

Got 2 sets of 17's cups and twists as well so because I don't want to mess with the original bodywork or paint , the only real way to change the look of the car is with wheels .

D90's on lowered cars look great and round my way ,they actually stand out because everybody else changed onto something else!! Happy to buy all the cheap sets going- keep them coming!!!

It's an intelligent design, just not aggressive looking enough for me on the car. Had them stored away in the attic, then one day decided to put a little art in the corner...
