I followed that sale down to the last minute. Quite surprising how high it went given the miles, although there were some suspicious bidding patterns. Would be very interesting to hear if, and if so how many, hands it has been passed between since.

Interesting to see that they have the 964 in a higher band than the 993 C4S...

In the late 90's I used to belong to the original parent club in London. It's there that I knew that the classic 911 was pretty much a safe bet (when compared to 308's and other exotica). A 'try before you buy' experience I guess.

Only 'niggles' I had were that with the large member numbers and limited staff little irritations rarely got fixed (i.e. cosmetic or minor electrical/gauge irritations)... Still, how else can you experience a broad range of classics?

They've had the car for a year now, I wonder how the demand has been?

1990 Porsche 911— After expressing our admiration of the 964 on our Here’s Why You Must Buy A Porsche 911 Today episode for the DRIVE network (youtube.com/drive) we couldn’t help, but drink our own Kool-Aid and pick up a 964 for CCC. While the 964 does have some mechanical challenges relative to it’s more simple and reliable brethren, we believe that properly set up, the 964 can deliver the ultimate modern, air-cooled 911 experience. The 964 is the last of the hand built cars and the experience is ever so slightly more pure than the 993 while enjoying a nearly 25% power bump from the earlier 3.2L Carerras. The car we picked up has some trick bits… like a race-built 330hp 3.8L motor, solid, heim-joint suspension components, JIC Cross Coilovers and a 993 Big Brake Upgrade, however some work needs to be done to hone it for street use. We have some work ahead of us, but we’re confident that once we dial it in, it will deliver the purest high-performance 911 driving experience you could ask for.

Heh, I remember that car. It used to belong to a local guy who tracked it extensively. He got a GT3 and wanted to sell it so I got him in touch with Ritter. IIRC they didn't make a deal initially but a few months later they did. That must've been around 2008 maybe?

Good to see it's still puttering around town again after all these years. It'd be fun to compare it against my 3.8...
