LEDs conversion on dash lights
#46
I ordered a bunch of LEDs from Superbrightleds to do all the gauge lights and I am about to install them. I realize that LEDs have a polarity, so if they are in "backwards" they will not light up and they have to be rotated 180 degrees. How do you know you have the right polarity for those that do not light up at startup and only light up when a fault is detected?

Sorry to bump an old thread but has anyone tried to do this lately? It appears the original bulbs recommended are discontinued and their website recommends the following:

Those are the ones I ordered, they work great. I ordered the Cool White but instead I received a bunch of Warm White, I notified them and they promptly sent replacements..

I ordered too many and I have a few leftovers in various colors. I can send you a couple if you want to see what they look like.

Thank You Laurent that is very kind of you and do appreciate the offer. I wish I saw this earlier but I had already placed my order and should be arriving sometime next week.

Ran out and made a quick video. In closed garage, sun going down. Lights are 100% dimmable btw. Not obnoxiously bright. Just clean IMO.

Quick question - Did you go with cool white or natural white LED (5900k vs 3900k)

I just went through this exercise in my 964. See thread Here. There’s a great write up from Will007 using the warm white lights. The bulb holders were a PIA with a few of the gauges, but if you’re patient it’s worth the effort.
I replaced the emergency lights and flashers as well. I can finally see my turn signals! Here are a few photos.
New led lights on two left gauges for comparison
Installing new emergency lights (2 on left are new LED’s(
All emergency lights replaced
Analog hi-beam indicator was almost invisible
New high beam indicator
