Factory or all red IMO. I prefer the factory look as I like the red and black contrast.
The all black looks like you had to replace it from a black donor car and haven't painted it yet.
Fundamentally I've always felt the 964 was perhaps a bit stuck between 3.2 and 993 styling wise...
Flag mirrors feature the black rubber surrounds, door handle are black, black fuchs and the grill also. All these elements work well with the thick rubber clad 3.2 Carrera bumpers.
I think the aero bumpers and non Fuch wheels cry out for aero mirrors, aero 933 handles, painted lower sills/ bumpers and a painted grill also. The 964 Turbo S came with a body coloured spoiler (without the black rubber edge) and imo it suits it perfectly also.
Don't get me wrong I like stock looking cars also.
I think we are creatures of habit. None more so than the 911 as it's always an evolution of style not revolution. Had Porsche done this from the outset we wouldn't bat an eye lid - well probs most of us wouldn't.
Take for instance the below. 993s came with a black grill, only the C2S and Turbos came with painted grills. The last pic is a photochop of how a C2S grill would look like in black...
as others have said - I did mine a gloss back (see my other thread and youtube on howto) and I like it.
I did think at the time to paint it all one colour, but it just seemed to look too odd. Also, when the spoiler comes up - it is black underneath, so having it all red might look weird?
On all black cars, it is of course different
If it needs painting anyway, just do it all red and if you don't like it - it is pretty simple to just paint the grill black.

Ahhh it's your youtube video.
i watched this yesterday actually and will be following your instructions shortly.
Haha! I watched it too awhile ago, trying to figure out if I could remover the grill to paint it.
But, I think I'm going all red. I'll just take it to a body shop and let them do it. I have no place to paint due to it being winter here. Before I finished my basement I used to paint parts all the time down there. Made a perfect little booth.
If I decide black, can also do that myself. I'm not a huge fan of painting, but black is pretty easy. The red I could see myself wet sanding and being to picky about it.
