Default advice on selling

Sadly I am forced to sell my 94 C2. It's a wonderful car but I am unable to drive it with handcontrols (I have spinal cord injury) because I don't have enough room in the car.

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...-w-tan-c2.html

Can anyone advice me where I should list my car? I want to get the most from it but at the same time, I want it to go to a great owner.

Thanks,
Sean

I'm guessing you're already aware that you have the lowest production year for the 964. Should command a higher price in todays market when compared to other 964 production years. How much will depend on original condition and mileage.

Great looking car!

Please correct me if I'm misreading that sentence. Is there not enough room to install the handcontrols? Hacki on the PCGB forum drives his tiptronic Cup car with handcontrols.

If I were to sell my car I would list it here.

Hopefully you would get a knowledgeable buyer without the tire kickers and scammers from Craigslist, Ebay etc.

Great looking car the only issue that may affect the sale is that it is a tip so you'll need to find someone that is OK with that.

Good luck.

I think Canuck964 is spot on. If you're going to use the Internet to market the car, please be prepared to hear from brokers, flippers, tire-kickers, and worse yet, flakes. Sites, like Rennlist, are far better than others, but you will still need to be somewhat patient. Most of the people who want Porsche 964s tend to gravitate toward manual coupes, and you will likely get some lowball offers due to this fact. Ignore them. As a number of people have noted, you have a very nice and rare car...

Good luck with the sale!

You'd still get them by the bushel, with air cooled being a hot commodity they have multiplied like rabbits and they constanty scan the enthusiast sites. I have lost a couple cars thinking I was fast enough to reply by contacting the OP within 15-30 minutes of the post, only to find out a dealer pulled the trigger almost instantly. They are also getting more creative in their approach which makes it harder to tell if you're speaking to a private individual or a dealer. LuxSport is a great example, they love and are pretty good at calling people and pretending to buy a car for one's self, only to list it on their site as soon as they put the phone down and before even receiving the title.

Anyway, as Canuck964 mentioned listing the car here would be a good move and I would also add Pelican for reaching a wide audience. Just be ready to have thick skin and weed out the vultures if you prefer to sell to an enthusiast.

I guess the seller could always look at the post counts and/or post history of a potential buyer from either Rennlist or Pelican.

Maybe if I was a buyer who is regularly on Rennlist or Pelican I would start off with giving the seller my posting name as some sort of reference.

Thanks guys. I didn't think of selling on here for some dumb reason. I had my porsche dealership take off lower dash (it's back on now) and handcontrols installed by local company (uninstalled now) and there just wasn't enough room for me. I'm 6'1" and just need more space to work with. I saw they only made 200 of these 94 C2s in US, so I'm really hoping I can get what I have out of it. Only 78k miles on it...

Fwiw: the seat rail position can be changed, allowing for quite a bit more space for the driver.

Do you REALLY want to sell it?
Price it within reason, reflecting condition, and tiptronic.
Place an ad on Pelican. Or, answer a wtb ad.
The car will sell. Usually within a few hours/days.

I don't think you will have any issues selling your car.

Seems to me the most desirable (other than RS, turbos etc) are C2 manual coupes post 1991.

You hit two of the three marks.
