Default Alternator retaining strap question - is there a replacement?

Hi guys and gals,
I need to replace my Alternator retaining strap as my existing one broke and although I have successfully welded it back together, I don't trust it !!

I got the correct part number from the catalog (see first picture no.6), but something completely different turned up (see second picture courtesy of design911).

My question is - would that be a replacement (improved) improved part? If so, how on earth does it go on - does it 'expand' and slip over the top ? Sorry for ignorance

Yip I agree that picture is for a 3.2 and older where it slips under a bracket/lip to retain the alternator.
