Default Winter project thread

I picked up the parts for my first winter project today. Last year I dropped my engine, not doing anything nearly as big this season. First up is an RS short shifter and bushings in my car as well as a friend's. I also plan on redoing my front oil lines since they're the only ones I didn't replace last year. Hope to do some interior mods a well.

What do you guys have planned?

Valve adjustment, spark plugs and to replace as many gaskets as I can with engine still in to stop the oil leaks. The worst leak seems to be from chain covers. Oh and to replace cat with a decat.

Top end reseal, is the big one for me but I also plan on installing H&R coils, aero mirrors, fabspeed cat bypass, and most likely putting on my kinesis wheels.

I flushed out most of the fluid in the hydraulic system last night. Diff locks are up next, going to have my daughter turn the 4wd button about 30 times per lock since I don't have a hammer..should be a good team building exercise..ha!

I just finished the polish-job on the convertible. Now, the car got a new suspension, new convertible top, overhaul of convertible-, rear-spoiler- and clima- head-unit, new clutch and full engine rebuild this year :-(

Just yesterday i finished the cosmetic jobs inside and outside. The 2015 season is welcome!

so, the convertible started winter-hibernation just yesterday. New rear lights are on the list for the winter... but i`ve to source an affordable set first....

The blue QPE looses some weight and already got a proper race exhaust (with heat).

race-header with new mapping
open conical air-filter
already lost complete aircon
lightweight front bonnet with visual kevlar inside
lightweight starter battery
rennline lower dash mount and removing the (deactivated) passenger airbag
heated wind-screen
New set of tires is necessary - but i don`t know if i should go the federal RS-R oder the michelin PS2 route....

regards from the bavarian winter

Im putting in a new steering rack (picked up a refurbed 993 rack on Craigslist for $150!) and doing the front control arm bushings and sway bard bushings.

2 weeks ago I put in a Momo Mod07 Volante and a new Blaupunkt Toronto radio.

This winter I'm doing a complete re-wire new dash display, front mount oil tank and building a new engine. If I have time I'll strip the 'box and give it a check over and inspect the LSD plate!
Think I'd better get the kettle on and stock up with coffee!!

I wish you the best of luck, I did it with the engine out and it was terrible.

Mike, can you let us know how you like the 993 rack and how easy as a bolt in replacement it is for the 964? You should have fewer turns lock to lock and I'm wondering how apparent that is after the conversion...
