YaHoo's Reintroduction
Hi All-
As some of you may know back in July my beloved black 964 was totaled when an SUV ran a red light. After searching for several months with the help of several kind Rennlisters I finally found my next P Car. Although several folks suggested other models (which were much more available) there was never a question in my mind that only another 964 would do. Without further ado here are the pictures- I'll continue my story below them.
It is a 1993 C2 with 46k on it! It has been a part of someone's collection since 2008 and is in excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically.
The PPI revealed a tranny drip and a torn CV boot so the seller covered a tranny reseal and new boots. To accomplish this the shop, European Motorsports in Vista, CA (no affiliation) dropped the tranny and motor. So while they were in there I had them replace the clutch (charged parts only at a Sunset price!), powdercoat the tins, weld a engine carrier reinforcement plate, reseal the motor (including the timing chain housings), replace the PS belt (and replace that seal and O ring) and replaced all its internal gaskets, replace the engine blanket and then finally I had a clear bra applied before I drove it home to NorCal from San Diego. I did most of these things (except the tranny and bra) on my last 964 with the engine in. While I miss the wrenching part I'm happy to have it all done! BTW European Motorsports was awesome! Their service manager Cameron Clanton really knew his stuff (unlike any SM I've ever encountered) and communicated with me daily sending me pics (all the ones below). I also was in communication with Phil their mechanic and he was also communicative and skilled- he addressed all the issues successfully. They also welded the new carrier and sent the tins away for powdercoating. Their prices were totally reasonable. As stated, I have no affiliation I'm just a very pleased customer. Here are pictures of the process:
Dropped motor and tranny
Tranny
Powder coated bits
All back together
New blanket
Putting it back together
A couple of last unaffiliated plugs: the seller, Classic Assets, couldn't ask for a better seller- honest, represented the car well, very helpful and reasonable- John there is a star. On the clear bra I went with Clear Pro out of Murrietta, CA. Lance there is an internationally recognized XPel installer and not only did a great job but also gave me a good deal.
After months of frustration fighting with the insurance company on proper compensation for my loss I was awarded with a really great seller, repair shop and clear bra installer. I drove up the CA coast with my Dad and a huge grin on my face esp when I hit the 4,000 rpm mark. It's great to be back in the saddle!!!
Misplaced photo but still a cool shot!

It took months and eventually a professional appraiser but in the end I got them to w/in $4,500 of the sale price. I closed that gap by keeping and reselling the totaled car to a salvage yard.

Glad you've got things sorted out, and that your back in the saddle again. Very nice find. A rare color combination and low production numbers year. Just love the color combo, it's quite stunning and classy looking.
