Can someone help me identify an unattached plug I found in the engine bay? Neatly tucked under the black plastic electrical box on the left fenderwell I found a two wire white male connector. The wire colors are grey with a red stripe, and grey with a green stripe. It is coming out of the interior left fender, and protrudes into the engine bay only about 6 inches. Just enough to wedge under the electrical box.

I could not find the female counterpart anywhere, and can't locate it in the electrical schematics that I have. Just wanted to be sure it is not something critical.

Well ok, I run down to the garage to look and see what mines hooked into and whadya know? It's not connected to anything! I have never noticed it there before. So I guess I'm really no help at all! But if I had to guess I believe it goes with option code 007, you know "rotating license plate holder"

Dear Steve,
If it was critical you would know about it. I am assuming your engine bay light is connected up. Porsche made one loom for all 964s including the Turbos. This connector is most likely related to a Turbo installation. You will find such connectors all over the place dependingupon the option status of the 964.

I have the same thing, same place. Perhaps someone could check: if this by chance is the connector for the Euro rear fog lights, I would do the happy dance, because then retrofitting these for my car would be simpler!

I can't find 'your' connector, but I found this plug instead!







FWIW, I don't think there's any connectors under the side 'box' but it's such a tight fit that it's hard to tell.

JB, I checked again on my car and this plug you found looks to "plugged" into a vacuum switch directly under the blower. From there a small hose loops down to a odd looking device under the manifolds. All this looks like cruise control thingies. Do you have cruise control? does it work?

I don't have cruise control.

And yes, "thingies"(noun, THIN-geez), is a proper technical term, used to describe, collectively without detail, something I have no idea about.

Hmmmmm. Thanks for looking , John. Still leaves me with a question: Could someone with rear fog lights trace the wires that lead to them and tell me where they are connected? Or is the connection somewhere where you would have to take out lights, center reflector to find it? I'm game to do this- just not right now it's too damn hot, but I am still wondering.

It's hidden inside the sheathing of the 'main' lead which leads to the rear lights in general.
