How do 964's handle short drives?
I have been debating using my 964 a little more and driving it to work. However my commute to work is only 8 minutes and I do it 4 times a day. Would these short drives be detrimental to the long term health of the engine?
Thanks

You'll probably be okay as long as you take it out periodically for a longer/harder drie, otherwise the oil will start to collect water from never coming up to temp. Oh, and your mileage will likely be in the mid-teens.

I use my 993 for a similarly short commute now and then. Don't drive it hard when it is still running cold. Also take it out and drive it hard on the weekends to blowout any carbon build up that results from the short, cold drives.
Also consider a bicycle for commuting. I take mine to work on a minimum of once a week now.

Get a girlfriend on the side that lives 30 minutes from work. Now you will have to jet over there and back during lunch. Car happy... You're happy... That's a one hour hard drive. No pun intended.

These cars don't like to take mostly short drives. Go ahead, but expect carbon buildup and more wear than a car driven longer miles. I did the same for a while. Car got happier when I started driving it longer and harder.
Anyway. It's yours. Drive it as short or as long as you like. The more the better.

My drive to work is 3.5 miles/10 minutes. Oil temperature is alive and well at the first peg as I'm pulling into the parking lot. As long as you're taking it out for regular drives outside of work, I wouldn't sweat it. Drive the car and enjoy it, it's not like we live forever.
