Greg-
I used these feelers taped to popsicle sticks to help. An improvement would be to put both on one popsicle stick, label it with the green=go and red=no go and just flip back and forth - that way you don't have to put one down to pick the other up.
Good luck and make sure to recheck them all after you think you are done. I found I had to readjust a few.

Yesterday was a great day of driving both cars up in the mountains. Today we have heavy rain, so the kids are tucked away in the garage.

It appears that you just tighten the screw with the "go" stick in place, then try the no go. No need for other gauge in the foot to check. Correct? What I am doing.

I actually did that approach last weekend on my c2. It worked and on one valve I double checked with the regular shim.

My little shims are beat up and only makes me second guess it. This backside way is soooooo much easier! What was I thinking in the past.

Greg, I felt the same way after I used backside for the first time? Remember I'm the guy that went off the deep end and used a dial gauge to start!

I am being a bit lazy and thinking I don't need to go through the order again as I was pretty thorough, but I guess that would be foolish to not do another quick round for an hr, vs a few hrs to take things off the motor again.

So to finish the weekend I am undecided if I should go through the valves for a 3rd time. Am I being overly cautious? What would you do? I feel as though they are fine but my OCD is kicking in.
My pretty lady here is of no help with this conundrum.
Haha.

After I used the backside method for the first time I went through them all just to recheck- most were good, a few needed a little adjustment. I was happy I did that because the time cost of closing it up and having one out of spec would be much more painful than having that second check. If you already did that second check I'd call er good.

Thanks yahoo. Just what I was hoping to hear. I found a couple to tweak on second pass. Guess no need for a third. I will be livid if I hear a tapping though. Happened a couple of yrs ago and I was steaming mad. But I guess I will consider it done. Close her up and do the Bilsteins and Springs, then the primary bypass pipe and done.
