I made my own short shift set-up years ago. Raised the slide to the upper position (can’t do in C4). Replaced front and rear nylon bushing with rod ends on steel tubing. Added 3 inch to the bottom portion of the shift lever (which significantly shorten shift throw). I did have to modify the upper portion of the rear area in the tunnel as the rod to the trans was making contact with sheet metal. And lengthened shifter and bent over so it was closer to steering wheel. Works great and is really smooth thanks to rod ends.
