Well, I had no trouble at all removing the sensor from the cat, but I did buy the $10 O2 sensor socket....money very well spent IMHO.
And I was able to disconnect the engine bay connector, but reconnecting it was another matter! It appears that the ridge on the male and female ends must be lined up for the connector to actually connect. After fiddling with it for a few minutes, I belive I have it....but I am not 100% sure.
I started the car, and after a few seconds of somewhat choppy idle, I went for a drive, and all seems to be well. But if I understand what I have read, a disconnected O2 sensor will simply result in a rich condition, and will not really hurt driveability. So, since I have an 1800 mile drive ahead of me a week from today (SCCA Solo II National in Topeka, Kansas), I am going to pull the heater blower motor, and get both hands in there just so I can be 100% sure I have a proper connection.

You should be able to see back there with a flashlight to be sure it's connected together without taking anything apart - it won't go together incorrectly, so if the plug is seated to its other end, I'd say you've got it!

Well....I would agree, but as I type this I am just upstairs from having pulled and re-installed the heater blower. Looks like I may have had the O2 sensor right, but now I KNOW its right!
On a related note, I know have become aquainted with the heater blower ballast resistor......Sure looks like it belongs in a box or case....or is it supposed to be exposed like that?
I am seraching through Adrian's book and Alldata to see where this should go....its connected electrically, but I can't imagine it is supposed to be dangling free in the engine bay. Good news is that I do have the updated part number (-02).

I don't have a digital camera Garrett, but the good news is that I found the TSB at Alldata for the recall, and it looks like it just pops into a slot on the side of the air duct that runs vertically down from the blower motor. I must have dislodged it when I pulled that pipe out to make it easier to get the blower motor out.
In any event, its a short plastic base, maybe a couple inches long, and 1/4 inch wide. On one side are two spade lugs for the wiring. On the other is an exposed metal coil (looks like a spring). Per the TSB, it needs to be in the air stream from the blower.
When it is properly insatlled, you will only see the two spade lugs.

What I think is the air temp sensor for the temp control system is mounted higher up in the pipe....a few inches below the blower. You would not even notice the ballast resistor unless you were an idiot and knocked it out while yanking the heater blower out.
Wait. I resemble that remark!

No digital camera? Your Rennlist membership should be revoked!!! Just kidding. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Here's a pic of the two items (including the updated part with the 02 on it)- I forgot there were two things on the heater pipe:

Good stuff....those photos are great.
You know, I am a techy kinda guy....just this afternoon, I installed an HD Tivo in my Home Theater rig, which is populated with 3 DVD players, a SACD/DVD-A hi-rez audio player, a full 6.1 speaker array (with 2 subwoofers, mind you!), a big-*** HDTV......but I just have not gotten around to getting a digital camera.
Guess I need to get off my butt, eh?

Hmm, I dont think it would make it through the grill....
I thought it was a factory method to indicate certain updates were performed - though someone might know!
