And at last back in the car...

Following the very painful run-in period followed by an oil change and adjustment service, the results of the modifications are really noticeable. As with all engine rebuilds the car feels so much tighter and together, but you can also really notice the extra strength when the revs rise above 4500rpm, giving an extra shove as the car squats down and accelerates hard. It is kind of strange but the whole car feels better, not just the engine, which I am guessing is down to the other recent suspension and engine mount upgrades all working together now. The car also sounds more aggressive which is an added bonus and as the revs rise it is almost as if she starts shouting angrily. There is also a noticeable difference in Torque, especially when driving at motorways speeds with a strong and effortless pick-up, so a great result all round.

The proof in the pudding will be when I book it in for a rolling road session to make sure the mapping is working to its optimum. Steve Wong includes any adjustments required in the price of a custom chip, which is very handy. At the moment I plan on taking the car to Surrey Rolling Road (now in Hampshire) again, unless anyone has any other recommendations? It will be interesting to see if she has gained any extra horses since the last visit with 252 BHP recorded. I certainly hope so, it feels like it has...

Thanks DTMLGND. Marine Blue seems to be a love it or hate it colour. I've heard some say it's a dull colour, which I guess it can be on a grey day. Personally I love it, especially with a bit of sun bringing out its best, but I would say that

Thanks very much Paul. The interior is next on the list but only a spruce up really, it won't anything near as stunning as yours.

I just came across the dyno results from my post engine rebuild rolling road session back in November and realised that I hadn't updated my thread.

I was extremely pleased with the results considering the modifications on the standard engine management. Our first run showed 292BHP but there was an issue with the plot (DOH) and the second run showed 288.4BHP, so I guess it's fair to round up to 290BHP with a healthy 270lb/ft Torque. I would've liked to go for the best out of 3 runs but sadly there was a large queue of cars behind me. The downside of choosing a Saturday power run session.

The session was carried out on the same rolling road, so this gives us reasonably accurate before and after figures. To recap before the rebuild the car achieved 252 BHP with around 230lb/ft Torque.

The engine is now starting to loosen up nicely and just seems to get better and better, so I would certainly say you can really notice those extra 40 horses. I can't praise the talents of Paul Stevens at Purely 9 in Yateley (Hampshire, UK) enough, he did a fine job. I would say we are probably pretty much at the power increase limits for a N/A 3.6 engine running a standard Motronic set-up... that'll do for me!
