964 Tiptronic conversion to G50 6-speed manual Tranny

Hi there,
As mentioned above : get the Porsche magazine of 2009. Good write up about what parts you need. Doesn't have to cost that much money..
But....
In the past I was also thinking about change my Tip to manual but in the end, after owning this 964 coupe with Tip for 7 years now, I find that the Tip in 'manual mode' is much quicker to shift then a manual and also very helpful to keep up with modern cars which more and more seems to have an automatic gearbox... (in Europe...).
Also on the Nordschleife the Tiptronic is not a problem at all (if in manual mode...) :-)

Tip isn't bad at all....but I like to feel in control of the power so I am attempting the notorious conversion. Picked up a G50/05 and a bunch of other parts like flywheel, clutch, shifter....etc. Working on a parts list and some aftermarket parts. I heard the drive shafts need to be changed.....can anyone confirm this?

I have a tip as well and after owning a manual 944, 2 manual boxsters and a manual 996 I'm finding I don't mind the automatic transmission. I know we're not supposed to drink coffee, talk on the phone or listen to music in our cars but i do all 3 and the tip makes it much easier. Plus, you can still get on it and have some fun with the tip in manual mode. You never miss a gear!

Did you do it or have a shop do it...
I spoke briefly to a major Porsche Indy here in Aus; they say they did it once, and will never take it on again... not very encouraging...

A shop did it for me; it was their first. The conversion went well but they installed a bad part leading to a wild goose chase while under the assumption the problems were related to the conversion. Gotta be confident, experience helps.

You have to factor in a new clutch/FW. The labor to install these goes a long way towards the conversion. I don't see going to all this effort to end with a worn out... basic clutch setup. LWFW FTW.
