Question cat bypass + cup pipe(w. welded resonator) + G-pipe?

OKay, I have a cat bypass and cup pipe. not installed yet. I know this combo sounds sweet from youtube clips.

I've also heard a local 964 owner with cat bypass / G pipe combo, also sounds sweet.

Since this isn't my daily driver. I want a little bit more noise. Not full on straight pipe loud. but slightly above either combo mentioned. I am thinking of gutting the secondary muffler.

what's your opinion on this? is this waste of time? Anyone has experience with gutting the internals of the secondary? I've only found 1 or two posts about this. that's with turbo car and otherwise stock. not much details

UPDATE: Possibly going with different configuration. Cat Bypass + Primary Bypass (with resonator) + G-pipe

It'd sound something like this I guess as without the internals it"ll be pretty much the same as a straight through pipe:

Rather loud for the street!

I've heard the car in the video clip. Can be heard a mile away, sounds fantastic, but WAAAYYY too loud for street or track. Cat and one bypass is perfect.

Sure. Straight thru will be way too loud to my liking too.

My friend's Evo 8 has this sport muffler that's been modified from stock piece. sounds very nice.

Then over at 993 forum. I must have seen a post about a company making sport mufflers using the stock pieces as well.

I would love to go with that approach if it's do-able on the 964 secondary muffler.

I've never heard it done but I think you should try it. With the amount of G-pipes installed it should be pretty simple to get another secondary to modify if yours is in good shape.

You would then be a pioneer as well!

Doesn't the secondary muffler innards consist of nothing more than a perforated pipe?

I have a cup pipe that replaces the primary. It sounds throatier, But I would like it a C- hair louder. That is why I have been hunting for a cat bypass pipe, and leave secondary. So, secondary on, cup pipe and cat bypass is my intent. I am guessing would be the perfect combo for me.

Not really sure how the internal looks like.

My assumption is that gutting some the material out. The muffler will resonate less? but not as extreme as have a G pipe?

with no scientific backing

Anyone want to sell me a muffler for cheap? I have all the tool needed to try this out. I can even take your cracked one.

what do you guys think of this configuration?

catbypass + cup pipe with resonator welded + g-pipe

Amazon Amazon

Would it be still on the loud side? I've got everything except the resonator. Should I do it

I'm not sure how anyone finds that attractive sounding, by any means.

No not at all. the goals is to achieve something that's not as loud as straight pipes. but slightly more sound than my current setup. cat bypass + cup pipe. I love the deep tone of what I have now.

ultimately, I want to save weight and space from the secondary as well. that thing is huge and weights a ton.

Try leaving the cat and bypass both mufflers

I love it, but if it were my daily driver I would just do cat bypass and g-pipe

It could be worth a short to have that resonator welded into a cup pipe if you are willing to go with the trial and error method. Should be relatively cheap at a local muffler shop.

There was a time when I was trying to find an equally quiet but light muffler to replace the primary muffler, so I know kind of how you feel.

I bought my c2 with a cat, cup pipe and G pipe and its is way too loud and doesnt sound very nice at anything other than WOT. I recently sourced an OEM muffler to replace the G pipe. Hopefully this will fix things.
