Default Sunroof Reinstall

I'm looking to reinstall a sunroof in a 964 that had it removed. Anybody have any experience with that or spare parts for sale? Sunroof parts were removed and hole was welded shut with a blank or the actual sunroof itself. I have not taken down headliner yet to see extent of how it was done but it feels smooth through the liner ... ie tracks, motor and worm gear seem to be gone. I understand that the tracks and other parts were welded onto the roof from the factory.
I can see the outline of the roof in the paint on the top of the car. Any input would be appreciated.

you can have mine if you want,
I suppose best is to have a whole roof inc sun roof, cut at the pillars and welded in...

The majority of the sunroof box is bonded to the roof panel with some very sticky black goo. It then has out-riggers welded to the roof frame in 4 places. The front two corners, and again about half way down the sides. I think your best bet is to find one in a scrap yard and take it apart there, starting with peeling off the roof panel so that you can get to the welded points more easily. Mind you, it will be no mean feat getting it out in a state that will allow it to be reused. Then as Tom say's you'll almost certainly need a new roof panel. The edges of the sun roof aperture are lipped over and double back. There would have almost certainly been ground off to fit the infill panel.
I recon it can certainly be done but you've gotta *really* want this sunroof. In my opinion you'd be better swapping cars.

Sounds like an expensive mess. Car is a low mileage RSA with 17 k road mile and 3k+ track miles. Car had sunroof taken out to lighten car. Paint on roof shows outline of sunroof. Seems like it is not worth hassle of reinstalling. Re spray of roof seems to be best option. Thanks for everyone's

Maybe do the sunroof removal properly with a new roof skin ?

Especially as its an RSA

^^^ This if you wanted to go the whole 9 yards. Or, just get a good body guy to clean up the contours of the existing roof to make it less noticeable.
