Default Front speakers

Hey guys,

What's the best size speakers to fit in the front of the 964?

I've managed to squeeze 6x9s in the rear but the front need done, badly.

What do you gs fit.

I'm also assuming that it's a direct fit to the door than the door panel.

Cheers
David

I just finished installing a pair of 61/2" Infinity Kappa font speakers. The speaker openings in the doors had been cut bigger by a previous owner, so I had to jerry rig it to fit these speakers. Great sound out of the Kappa's.

Okay, interesting. We're the speakers meant to fit in the original door hole?

Also did you retain the speaker grills that we're on the car originally?

What model of speaker did you get?

Sorry for all the questions, want to get it right first time.

Cheers
Dave

I put the Infinity Kappa 462.9cfp in the back, perfect fit and I could use the factory covers.

I just ordered the VDO ... Looks like a great option. My CR-1 needs to be refurbished and stored. Does anyone know where to have the CR-1 refurbished. Thanks

I just put a set of 13cm/5.25" Pioneer's in a couple of weeks ago and they fitted in fine with me only having to enlarge the factory fitment ring slightly with a dremel. I was able to use the factory covers too so they look completely stock and sound a lot better!

I've fitted the new crossovers, but not fitted the tweeters yet - they would likely need gluing into the old fittings to make work.

Wjean, it was fairly easy to fit the 6x9 speakers. They are big but good sound.

Please think twice about 6x9's in the rear....That is a mod you can't take back. As has been stated many times before, the best sound comes from the front door speakers with a small amp and 4x6 in the rear as filler sound.
You can fit 5 1/4" under the stock grills in front or use spacers and 6 1/2" for better bass. For more bass add a self powered subwoofer behind the front seat!

Hi, Also consider for a quality high end front speaker the Focal 130ca range, fitted straight into the original fixings and the covers are understated and close as possible to standard. I looked for ages for something with not stand out colours or offensive plastic covers. Someone on here fitted these originally and I went with these too.

Worth considering these:
