Default Brake Lights not working

I was informed by a Policeman that my brake lights aren't working yesterday. Luckily for me, he was off duty and also my brother

I had the brake pedal micro switch replaced last year and the tail lights are working, which I think rules out the No. 19 fuse. Has anybody else had any similar issues at all?

Fuse 19 is brake-lights only; tail lights should be at Fuses 40/41.

Oh right, thanks very much Harry. I read up that they shared the same fuse, but in that case it is worth a look then

Well fuse 19 looks to be ok and according to Adrian Streather's 964 Bible, no.19 does service the tail lights too - odd.

I'll check the obvious choice and change the bulbs, just in case coincidently they have both gone. Other than that, I guess I have another faulty brake pedal micro switch.

I will post the findings in case somebody else has a similar issue in the future.

I would try checking the pedal switch. I believe there's some adjustment for the point of contact with the pedal....I know with mine that it needs a firm push to make contact and light them up.

Yes, odd! My copy of the "bible" says the same (an error?) but that is at variance to the fusebox label inside the lid - I keep a copy of label with the handbook for ease.

That's a good idea, cheers Harry

Update, should anyone experience a similar issue...

Turns out it was a faulty brake pedal switch, which was actually less than a year old - odd hey!! Not an expensive part, but still under warranty so Porsche have given me a new one.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I've heard that older 911s have redundancy in the brake pedal switch. They basically have 2 switches, so if one fails, then you got the fallback switch.

That's interesting Vandit, although mine only had one. Probably could've done with a back up

After removing and reinstalling the pedal cluster, my brake lights no longer work (fuse #19 is ok). I can order a new switch since they are fairly cheap, but is there a quick way to test and find out if the switch is faulty?

I took my old switch apart - there is a small spring and contacts in there - one disconnected, you can manually depress the contact - I played with the connection and plugged it bag in and depressed the micro-switch with my thumb to see if the brakes light up (in a dark garage). I got it flickering on and off a few times and managed to fix the contact point for a couple of weeks before it wore out again.
Once I replaced it it worked fine and then stopped again after I put new rotors and pads on - I had to adjust the switch - if the plastic hex nut is too tight I found the nrake lights wouldn't work consistently...

I had the switch out of the pedal cluster and played with it but no luck. Then, I read your post about taking apart, which I tried and ended up breaking the housing. So, a quick call to Sunset and the new switch should be here on Friday. Hopefully, it solves my issues.

I have a strange issue I'm really scratching my head on. My passender(right) brake lights are not working. I measure 12 volts at the assembly and the bulb is good, but it won't light up. Further complicating this issue is that when I turn on the head lights it is the same circuit as the brake lights. So if I have the lights on, when I brake there is no change in intensity. Only the one filament is lighting up. I'm really stumped. I did remove my 3rd(upper) brake light some time ago, but this issue is current so I have to assume it is not connected. Fuses 19 and 40 are good and do indeed function as intended.
