I've personally never heard of that being done, I think the most cost effective way would be to sell your current 964 and look for another in Tiptronic.

I would rather keep my car hence the gear box change and why not the 5 speed if it will fit,is it a difficult transition from manual to auto?or easy done i reckon that paddle shifter kit was damn trick.

Sounds like a huge exercise in futility. You could probably sell your car for enough to buy a tip car, do some mods on it, and still have money left over.

It would be very difficult and expensive to do - especially if your car is a C4. As mentioned, your best bet would be to sell the car and buy a nice Tip -they're usually cheaper t han manual cars which would give you some cash left over for some mods etc.

The later 996 uses a Mercedes 5 speed auto box. I doubt it would fit in the space available as its a big unit and it certainly will not mount to the engine. That's before you even look at the electronic side of things....better buy a nice 964 Tip.

It's obviously not what you'd want to hear. Unless your 964 is highly modified the cost of swapping over to a tip would severely out weigh selling and buying a Tip.

At note worth pointing out, a few people have modified their tip 964s to have flappy paddles on the steering wheel to good effect.

A 996/997 Tip will not mate with any air-cooled engine, never mind all the electronics needed to operate it. These are completely incompatible.

I'd suggest either a Tip conversion (not going to be cheap!) or learn to live with what you currently have.

It seems a shame to modify a perfectly good Manuel C2 into a Tip at any price.

I'd put up with the great car you have, keep looking and some day a suitable Tip will turn up!
