Default Best steering wheel for 964?

Looking to replace my stock 964 wheel. I am most keen on the 993 RS wheel at this stage. Any thoughts?? Also, is this a pretty painless procedure? I have a non-airbag wheel to start with. So far considering the following....

Mod 7 Momo. The offset brings the wheel closer. Allows for a bent elbow meaninh you have lots of reach. Have a look through the interior thread recently posted for inspiration.

Momo prototipo or Sparco, have smallest dish,
if ever you can scratch your knees without bending (like me) just buy a flat wheel

Momo 07
Not a fan of the 993 RS wheel. Had one on mine when I bought it and sold it straight away

I like the 930S but go with a genuine one (not the kind of reproduction you link). It looks like the Ruf but with the Porsche logo stamped on it. A little pricy (at least double the Momo Prototipo) but very nice. I like the Prototipo as well.

BTW as this style wheel was stock on the Speedster it is more "period correct" than the other wheels if that makes any difference.

The p/n for this style on a 964 Speedster is is 968 347 084 8YR. The one for the 930S is 000 043 161 8YR.

Here is a good look at the wheel and listing of the p/ns (I think both wheels are basically the same but I could be wrong)

The cheapest I've seen these listed on the web was at Porsche of the Main Line's web site but who knows if they actually have them available there or at PCNA.

Good luck and let us know which way you go.

You are quite right in the wheel being the same (although you have missed 00 from the second number) The boss is different , thats all.

The prices on that link are way out of date, lots of them are NLA now as well

Not sure why they are being called 930S wheels, they are nothing like a 930S wheel!

My car came with a genuine 930s wheel. I changed it out to a Momo Mod 07, as I spend a lot of time at the track and the Momo wheel deep dish brings the wheel closer to me.

What are genuine 930s wheels worth?

I love my Momo Monte Carlo in 320mm... any bigger is simply too big, IMO.

$50 more than his offer. PM me Kidding... You see them on eBay at around $600 average, sometimes more....much more. Why when new is around $725? Because they are very hard to find.

New ones go for $500+ iff you can find one, there are lots of replicas out there without the bottom split seam that goes a the way up to the center where the crest is embossed. I'm partial, but it's probably the best wheel I've ever used. Why didn't you consider an extended hub if you needed the wheel closer?

I've never grasped why everyone refers to it as a 930S wheel either- I've never seen one on an OE 930, it was OE 968 Cubsports....
