need to get it lower !!
Hi all,
I am a little confused on how to lower the front of my car. The previous owner installed Bilstein coilover shocks (not sure of the model, but they are blue with blue springs). Anyway, from the ground to the bottom of the front guard lip it is 80cm. There is a good 8 cm clearance until the top of the tyre and it just looks dumb. Further, the back height (again from ground to bottom of guard lip) is 75 cm - so the car rakes the wrong way.
I pulled off the front wheels and had a look a the shocks and they are already adjusted all the way down.
So, how can I lower the front of my car another 5 cm ? Do I have to buy different shocks?
sorry if this is a dumb question

That would be a sprung issue. I just put in front bilsteins and Eibach lowering springs and feel my front could be lower. The spring perches are all the way down also. Not sure the answer.
If you have a look at my thread in regards FVD lowering collars it is something like these you are after, do not buy the ones FVD are selling at the moment as they will not fit your Bilsteins however since we have raised this with FVD they are hoping to have some made in the next few weeks that will fit Bilsteins.
Or you could get a machine shop to make up a set

Can you post pics of the current ride height?
My only concern here is that you might be lowering the coilover beyond the operating range of the damper, which could lead to bad handling (riding on bump stops) and/or accelerated wear and eventual failure of the damper.

As vandit says...My own 964's on bilstein/H&R combo & I have lowering perches on mine but as have not gone to low as for the reasons above but they would let me to go beyond rs low if I wanted but It drives just right with no bump steer & handles spot on....it's about +10mm rs height but I think -10mm more would be just ok for the range of bilstein HD's
RS + 10mm....ish

Looks perfect. I can get almost 3 fingers between my from tire and the fender. Bilstein and eibach lowering springs. Funny thing is the lowering spring up front was actually longer then the stock spring side by side, but compressed much easier have not even been on the road yet with all the snow and salt. It may settle as it drives a could miles. One can hope.

Hi Gaz,
yes, I saw that thread of yours - must be frustrating ! I am not sure how those collars work though? Also, I am wondering if perhaps these coil overs were to suit the previous owners set up as he had 17" rims/tires on there and I took them off to put the original wheels back on again.

[/QUOTE]Fuch - your's looks perfect - exactly as I would like mine to be. do you have links and/or part numbers to what you put in yours please? I'd be happy to just buy that setup and on-sell my Bilstein coil overs.
Wow, your car looks crazy high for any kinda of aftermarket spring setup. Post some pics of the front suspension setup, maybe if we can ID the exact suspension components you're running, then we can offer specific advice.
im sorta on this quest too hepkat. I've got greens and it seems my car is lowered a bit more than stock..closer to Fuch's level, but not quite the level I'd ultimately wish for. A bit lower, with bottom valences painted would be perfect i think. But it it would cost a new set of shocks to got with springs I think I'd settle for my current ride height and just paint the black under pieces to match body color. best of luck, let us know what you settle on, i agree the uneven ride height would bother me too
