Would you sell?
Ok, so what would you do if someone offered a reasonable price for your 964? Sell it or keep it?
If you sold it, what next? Another 964 or a 993? And would you get another one as good as the one you had.
Ummm....

Unless you need to sell for financial reasons or other (usually family related) reasons, I think you need to be clear that what you would be replacing it with was better for you.
Personally my 964cab is a keeper. I have been gently nosing around for an additional faster hard top (ideally a RUF 993) but am also told by 'er-indoors that I cannot have 2 Porsches right now, and I don't want to sell my 964.....

Personally I wouldn't sell mine, have it set up just the way I want!
But I'd consider another (my other half is into DE's as well). I 'd also consider a 993!
Gota get my Avatar back up with just the 964 in Track trim as I've just sold my '02 996.

That's a tricky one...
I'd probably sell; I'm on my 2nd 964 and I think my 3rd will be the keeper...I'm really clear now about what I'd have:
964
Guards Red or Silver with Black interior
Coupe
Manual
1993 spec
Trip computer (I like mine!)
Cup 1s
I will, at some point migrate to this...

As I've said before in other posts, your car looks great Phil. With that said, if you had your heart set on a cab, widebody, RS, Turbo, 993 and all the variants, then I would consider selling. If your current car is not your number one color choice, then I would sell. I had a 964 cab that was really nice. Nice color, mods, convertible and I will always feel the 964 is the last of the traditional 911 shape. With that said, I have not looked back since I got the 993 C4S. The body is definitely a personal thing but for me, the looks are sweeter. The mechanicals are similar yet more comfortable. The power is similar yet more subtle. The handling is similar yet more idiot proof. As always, just my humble opinions.
Who said I was talking about my car?
My gut feeling is to hang onto mine. I can't think of anything I'd like better without spending a lot more money, which at the moment isn't an option...

I would sell if I got a good price, but I know that my definition of a good price is unrealistic, so I am happily "stuck" with my car. I would get another cab, and probably a 996 with glass rear window. 2002+ with 320hp and atleast a Motorsound exhaust...

Good topic Phil.
I've been thinking about selling my 964. I wonder what it's worth? Here's the link - -> My 964 Any opinions? The car is pretty nice other than two leaking rear timing chain gaskets. Still has original Freudenberg too.
I'd probably get another '86 3.2 or even a '74 2.7 (with a fresh motor). Less investment in the toy that sits way too much (I put about 200 miles on my car this year so far...). The older cars are more raw and I think that would entice me to drive the toy more. I definitely won't go newer if my 911 is a toy (and not a daily driver).

Looks a great car - low mileage and very original. Oh, and love the phone!

Hard to put a value on a car that's overseas. Maybe a fellow Yank could advise?
Interesting idea to go for an older car if it's used as a toy. If I was going to do that, I'd go the whole hog and get a 356. As it is, although mine isn't a daily driver, I do use it as a means for transport for business and pleasure and don't think I could cope with an older 911.
Cheers

If someone makes me an offer I can't confuse....
...I'm back on the bicycle until I can find a nice 210kw 993 C4.
Preferaby Arena Rot, with bord computer, sunroof, klima, a good CD player and empty Auotbahn.

I genuinely can't think of any car that I would replace my 964 with.
I have it set up just how I like it. It has the classic 911 shape and is such an involving car to drive - it appeals on so many levels.
I can only think of replacing it with another 911.
I prefer the look of the 964 to the 993, I don't like the less involving nature of the 996, I wouldn't want to lose the refinements of the 964 by going for an earlier car...
Besides, I love my car!

I would not sell.
Reasons -
2002 996 cab or GT3 or Turbo to expensive for me.
early 911 not practical for what we would need to use it for.
Could be tempted to use the money to trade up to a bigger yacht and buy a cheap car, have thought about this but the wifey and kids would never agree ( we want it all!), so it's keep the Porsche and save for the bigger yacht.
