Would you sell?

I recently put my '91 cab up for sale due to having a 16 year old with a new license and a $6,500/year premium just for him if I continued to have four cars in the household. I didn't realize how reluctant I was to sell until I started getting calls and found myself talking the potential buyers out of buying my car. After a particularly long telephone conversation with someone that I had convinced to buy a hardtop instead, my wife quipped that we would be homeless if our income was reliant on my selling skills. I decided to keep the Porsche and I can only hope that my son realizers what a generous (if not foolish) Dad he has.

I definitely wouldn't sell and buy another 964. It's hard to find double black '93 (i.e. all the kinks out) coupes! If I bought an earlier 964, I'd spend half of my time worrying about leaks, flywheels, etc., and would blow a couple of grand replacing the flag mirrors and Design 90s. Not to mention California's userous tax on used cars (about $2k for a 964).
If I could somehow swap into a 993 that I really liked with fairly low mileage and a good history for $10k or less net, I'd *consider* it. Though I doubt that such a deal is realistic (it would cost me $3k in taxes just to register it). But, maybe if you threw in Fred Sanford's truck...

I can't sell! Because I promised my 6yr old son that I would give this car to him on his 16th birthday. Meanwhile I've been casually looking around for a '97 993 C2S, bringing along my son of course.

I was trying to trade up to a 993C4S but no one turned up to even view my car. C4S has been sold to a friend and I secured first right of refusal to buy when it comes time for him to sell.
Would trade up for a right priced 993RS, C4S or TT. Toyed with the idea of a 996GT3 but it's currently out of the price range.
Probably get the upgrade itch again soon (1 yesr) and go for that autronic engine management system with alpha-n fuelling and goodbye barndoor. Said to give 300bhp.

mine is a keeper, which is why i bought it in the first place and why i am spending a ton of money rebuilding it right now. At this point i do not think there is any way i could ever recoup my investment. My 356 is the same way - and in all likely hood my next P-car will be the same. I need some turbos's in my next car (and 4-wheel drive)

The answer is............NO!
It took to many time to find a 964 without a accident past, I think I looked for at least 6 cars before I found the right one.
Believe me............ some of them where so good repaired that my colleage from the body shop hardly could see!!!!
So, potential buyers, have your eyes open when you buy one. Bring a guy from a body repair shop with you. The money he wants [if] for looking to a car is more then worth!! Imagine if you foud out after 6 months that there was welded on the car and not protected like it should and it starts to rust..........................
I saw a few examples, looking with a flash light into wheel arches front and rear, brown water/rust stripes vertical down. A hell opens up, and try to sell it afer you found out..............................
NOTE: I don't say that all the 964 had a accident, but a lot af the cars had a hard life behind them. Especially the cars imported from Germany could be a greater risk.
Have a good weekend!!

Currently I am contemplating an orange 1973 Carrera 2.7 in excellent condition. For those who do not read 911&Porsche World, that is the big bumper version of the iconic 2.7 RS, same mechanics. The car performs like a racer, benefiting from new and improved suspension, brakes and a 2.9l engine with 235 hp hitting a low 950kg.
But it would mean selling my C2! Every morning I wake up with sweat on my face and a guilty feeling. How could I possibly think about selling my C2!

Sorry, I was half awake when I wrote that. I was thinking about this 2.4S which I saw at Autofarm the other day and fell in love with:

Phil,
No, it is a swiss car. But I saw the one at Autofarm. Loved it! Actually the car I fight to resist is the same model as Keith Seume's, only orange and modified.
But an RGrupped 2.4 S would be great, too! Only more expensive still... But imagine 911 R weight with RSR power! Ah, the sweat is back!
