I know the car is in Russia, but I understood you imported it from Germany or another part of western Europe. It was on import that you found you had a problem.

My question is, did the car come from the USA prior to being re-imported to western europe. for example is it an American spec car or European spec.
To my Knowledge WIDE BODY cabrio's were made for the American market as AMERICAN ROADSTERS or only by special order in the rest of the world
(known as ROW).
This might help your search.

This can't be the same car. Yours is a Tip transmission so not a C4 as the Tips were only available in 2 wheel drive.

Just goes to show you what I know!

I came across this earlier, The Turbo Look Register.

http://www.turbo-look.de/964.php?lang=en

There is some info about chassis numbers.

According to the figures 192 cars were built in Tiptronic in 1992, narrow that down to colour and interior spec, you'll be on your way to getting the correct chassis number.
I think , that if they can't help you, only Porsche can.

Good luck with your research, I hope you get what you need and keep us up to date with any news.

911Pervy,
I once found a page on here, I think which allowed you to enter your chassis number and it would then give you the original build spec as you managed with you post.

Can you point me in the right direction as I've been trying to find it again.

Thanks
Stuart

I think the VIN that he's now given us is the VIN that is on the registration documents and it was this VIN that lead him to realize it doesn't match the car. Hence why he wants to find a VIN on the car. Looks like they are all gone though!

Thanks Pervy, I'll dig out the VIN and make the donation etc.

Steve, the strange thing is that the number he has given, fit's in with the Turbo Look VIN's listed by the TL register.
I am sure they will be able to clear this up.
