Another new 964 owner. Amazon Green
Well in the past month or so I keep seeing a bunch of intro threads so I best do one.
Coming from audis and vw. Which i still own (s4s mk3 vr6 and a mk2 gti 16v)
I started my 964 search months and months ago when they seemed to be plenty for sale. But of course when I had the money ready non were for sale. Took a good 3 months of searching. My wtb thread actually really helped me apart from one member on here that commented sellers should beware as I had 1 post and didnt care about color etc etc.
Kosmo on here actually messaged me and told me about Dan Petchel up in nj having a red 964. Quick look on dans website and it turned out he had a amazon green 964 for sale too with a 0 mile rebuilt motor. Was more then I wanted to spend but because of the motor and color I decided to call Dan just before christmas. After calls and emails a friend of mine went to see the car and told me to go for it and that it was a amazing shape inside and out for the year. So I struck a deal with Dan payed him the money and just after New Year I drove up with my truck and brought it home.
Heres some pictures from when I picked her up. Sorry they are from instagram,
Total trip distance. Ignore the mpg the truck was brand new. And actually after the trip mpg has gone up 2mpg in normal driving.
Gave it a wash the next day to get all the road grim off
Now before I even had the car I called my friend Brian over at Rotiform up and ordered up some h&r coilovers from him which I got on monday
Then after having the car for only 2 hours I called Brian up again and ordered my wheels which hopefully I should have for around the 5th of feb.
My plans are really to clean this car up. Not that the car is in bad shape it isnt. Infact its in great shape for a 1991 car. I just want to make it as perfect as i can make it. A full respray should be happening in amazon green along with replacing some of the worn switches inside.
Mods well apart from the wheels and coilovers. Im looking at putting a ducktail on. A good friend of my who owns an exhaust company that makes exhausts for lambo r8s etc etc wants to build me a complete exhaust so thats on the list too. So not much just simple things.
Dan was great to deal with and I really think I got a great car from him. Looking forward to 964 ownership and everything that comes with it.
It will also make a trip to Europe at some point (i am a brit) as i did that with my yellow s4.

Looks great, and it sounds like you've got your road map to personalization all mapped out. Please keep the thread updated w/ your progress.
I'd hold off on the respray till you drive it around some more, get familiar with the mechanics, and make sure you're not gonna have to tackle anything major the seller forgot to tell you about.

Every time I see someone complain about not seeing any 964s for sale, I have been pointing them to Dan. He's had four or five for sale over the last 18 months or so and has been advertising mostly on CL. I am glad someone finally bought one and found the experience enjoyable. Dan redid the Targa top on my old '74 and he was great to work with him on that. If I hadn't found my '90 through a local CL posting, I most likely would have bought one from Dan myself.
Congratulations and enjoy the car!

Great intro. This looks like it'll become another slammed 964?
I second what was mentioned before, sound advice. Keep your money, and make sure she is completely mechanically sound before.

Three Wheelin'
Nearly bought an Amazon Green myself, very nice and fairly rare.
I agree with the others, do what you want mechanically and leave the re spray for now.
