Biggest surprise this week is the state of the aluminium liner for the rear bumper.
This has obviously seen some kind of action in it's life.
Looking at the rear with out the bumper on, there is no evidence that she has been in an accident, certainly not to my eyes.
You can also see that the supports have broken off, so I'm looking for a replacement bumper insert / support and the liner.
The only sign of a shunt is the left bumper mounting tube has a small crumble, i.e a fold in the tube!
There is no sign of rust in any of this area.

A close up of the bumper iron, as you can see this has a slight distortion to it, indication a small shunt. there is no other evidence of damage.
You can also see from this close up that part of the exhaust system is held in place with a large hose clip. It's the same both side. Not sure what to do about this at the moment.

My rear PU etc was almost identical. The bumper support has done its job at some point in the cars life and the corrosion is very typical on the rear beam. I replaced the lot which aint cheap but its mechanically sound and once treated with waxoyl or similar will not need attention for many a year

Spot on Stan, not damage, no rust at all on either side. After reading your thread on this I was straight in there as soon as the bumper came of.
The RHS was full of oil soaked crud, even in the rear light base, but now all cleaned up looks like new.

Rob IIRC correctly £150ish for the big one and £60ish for the two side pieces then VAT. All those clips, brackets and strips were silly prices, rear bumper was £480.

Oil tank came up a treat!
Sorry slightly off topic and I posted this in Stans thread first without thinking
Can you do seat belts in Rubystone?

George, now there's a good question!
At the moment no, but it's not impossible, but it would require us to have webbing specially dyed and that requires 3000 mtrs and a lot of expense. That equates to a lot of re-webs / new seat belts, or some very expensive ones in order to recoup the initial cost of the webbing.
If there are enough people with That would like Rubystone, it would bring the cost down considerably.
For Red and many other colours, we hold large stock, because there is always a demand for it, Purple (Thought of you Ivan) and other slightly out of the ordinary colours can take years to sell 3000 mtrs.
If you are still interested, let's talk about it and if we can find enough people that are interested we can bring the cost per pair down to make it more affordable.
We have dyed webbing for specific projects, but the customer has paid for the full 3000 mtr run.

Hi Stuart
I guess the 3000 metres would be more than £300...
Type911 appear to have Rubystone available at £156 each, which isn't too bad.
Thanks for the detailed quick response though.
Cheers

George, sent you a PM.
The cost for a straight forward re web is normally only £27.50, or for a complete new seat belt £53.50, so a big difference in price for a new pair from Porsche or a re-seller.
