lol, yes definitely bit over the top. But we have the tools to somewhat harness it with the brakes and TC. If only I could have bigger tyres...

Yes, I need to arrange to have them at the track. Just switch wheels. I have another set.

Everything was put back together, ECU being adjusted but cylinders 5 and 6 were noisy. So much that the knock sensors were messed up.
I'm using custom pistons so the car went on a transporter to the engine builder and he verified the issue. Took the cylinders and pistons off and send them to the piston company. It ended up being tolerance issue, something acceptable for a race engine but not for a street engine.
So here we are now, waiting for the pistons and cylinders to come back and everything will be put back together.

I know, its a test of patience. A big test.

I assume that the guy who put the engine together checked the tolerances???
Race engines have different tolerances, any enginebuilder knows that...

I think you're oversimplifying things a bit, the guy who put the engine together is the best in the industry. We are on the border of race/street engine. So with this new build we are trying to do things a bit better than before, thats why the custom pistons. The piston company actually helped out, trying to figure out the best scenario. Seems they were about 0.02 mm off and they're taking care of it. I'll follow up with the full details.

With a piston to cilinderbore clearance of 0.07-0.08 (I guess), 0.02 off seems quite a lot to me.
But I was not trying to attack your enginebuider, just wondering...

Curious on the tolerance difference between race and street? The above comment seems to imply there is a greater tolerance in a race engine, where as I would've thought the opposite to be true.

Best of luck getting it resolved.

Race engines usually don't get heated-up for 15-20km before they are pushed to the max.
So when you go full throttle with a semi-hot engine, the pistons heat up quicker than the cilinders.
So they grow a couple of hunderds of milimeters, which with a tight cilinderbore clearance may lead to scoring.
This is why race engines usually have more piston to cilinder clearance.

^^^what he said.
And racing engines are a bit noisy for this reason, but for my car that doesn't work of course.
But the idea is to give my engine a bit more space because of the high power, so we tried to find the maximum allowable tolerance without making the engine noisy. And the noise was there, but only picked up by the knock sensors. So thats why I said for a race engine okay. It was not like anything was about to break, not that kind of noise...
