Rebuild this Winter
I bought my 91 964 3 hears ago this fall, since then i've done a lot of major work to the car including a complete body strip and paint
it now has 170K miles and i'm pretty sure according to the records and my limited knollage that the motor has never being out
a while back i posted the above video on my clacky sound coming from the motor underneath
also after a high rev i get a little blue smoke
now after chatting with you, i've decided to drop the motor and do a top rebuild
i can do some of the work but am limited
my plan is to send the heads to Steve Weiner to rebuild the heads and, if my motor is before the head gasket era i'll have him groove the cylinders for head gaskets
i'm keeping it all stock except maybe a Eprom upgrade
heads rebuilt
maybe valves if needed
new head gaskets
new rings
Viton gasket set
head studs
and then we'll see what else once its out
i'll do my best to document the work and as always welcome your knowledgeable feed back
here we go

Check bolts in block
Check the through bolts on the block... No sense in replacing all those gaskets twice.

Woah, those are some good leaks!
A couple additions for your list-
- I think that the timing chain cover gasket set is seperate from the headgasket set
- front and rear crankshaft seals
- oil sender o-ring
- breather gasket
EBS Racing seem to be the folks to go to for these kinds of bits.
Looking forward to following the thread. Good luck!

Mine was stuck in pretty good. It looked like the previous owner had used some sealant.
It should come out since the fork is what held it. Be careful as I believe these are NLA. I found a used one luckily as mine was toast.
