Default Another 'Lift' System ~ QuickJack

Came across this on Pelican, relatively new still. I love how portable it is, considering I don't have the space for a scissor jack or any other lift system in my Garage setting.

The Flaw, price tag of ~ 1000$ and currently the lifting capacity isn't 'too high'.

But in the future weight issues would probably be addressed.

Thoughts?

Did you look at the Maxjax-I thought the same as you -no room- but I bought the MaxJax and every so often my garage becomes a workshop and then reverts back to a garage.

I could not be happier and other than being an owner of one no affilation

looks like a good wind or shake could knock it over.

That's a friend's car in that video. He's getting probably 15 of them for us locally, fully tested to his satisfaction.

Understand this is a portable unit intended for trackside use. The retail price is a rounding error when you consider how convenient it will be for a crew, weekend free helper or paid pro.

I bought this about 5 years ago and have been very happy with it:

Will the 5000 model work for the 964?

It kind of works.. I have one. It works best if you run the ramps backwards due to the lift points on the 964. In the standard position the lift points can't get far enough back to reach the hard pads near the oil thermostat. That means the front 'hinge' of the lift is right against the back of the front tire, and the front lift point isn't in an optimal position. Like I said it works, but not a perfect fit. You CAN use the lifts sideways, but I haven't tried it.

Also FWIW, my power unit and cylinders failed at 13 months of a 1 year warranty and the company stood by their equipment and replaced everything with a smile.

You have to make sure you get the redesigned version, either 5000SLX or 7000SLX. There are a couple threads on the 993 forum about that.

Yeah, apparently the newer version, the SLX, has been redesigned specifically due to input from Porsche owners - so they will fit 993's, 964's, etc.

Would love to hear any comments, good or bad, from people who have used one.

I prefer the Quickjack vs the other lifts because I like having access to the middle of the car.

^also much easier to get it delivered as it doesn't weight 800lbs...I'm about to purchase a 5000SLX so will provide input soon.

Yep. Can move it around to get it out of the way, etc.

I am on the phone call list for a 5000SLX -- hopefully they will be out soon.

Do these newer models of the QuickJack that supposedly fit the 964 get in the way of the oil tank drain plug?
Thanks in advance,

I just ordered one yesterday...what do you mean you're on the phone call list?
