Congrats on the car and keep us posted on your progress. Glad to see a 964 getting back on the road. Many of the RL sponsors sell lightweight flywheel conversion kits. I purchased mine from Steve Weiner. Remember if you install the LWF, then you need to update the DME chip too to avoid stalling.

TLG in North Hollywood.
Ask for Marco or Tony.
Good honest guys who know their way around these cars.

It's a YouTube video... Works for me on my phone though.

Thanks for the recommendation, but the video shows the car starting up. Got a lot done.

Clutch and clutch bearing
Flywheel
Alternator
Distributors
New fuel tank
Fuel pump.
I'm forgetting things.

Thanks to George over at Motor Doctor for getting this all done in a week, for exactly what I had budgeted!

Awesome to hear. Can't wait to see a few pictures after you get it all cleaned up.

Is anyone running newer Cayman/Boxster wheels? I was wondering if a setup like this would work, taken from a 06 Boxster S. I am guessing tires sizes off tire rack recommendations.

F - 18x8, ET 57 with 235/40/18 michelins
R - 18x9, ET 43 with 265/40/18 michelins

Wish the fronts were 45 aspect ratio, or even the rear 35, to get the circumferences closer, but as is its about 3.8% or so difference, which seems to be right near the lower maximum allowance.

Any advice would be great.

FYI 18s are not recommended for the 964, people still run them though.

Hi,

Loving the story and look forward to updated pics.

So ideally you want ET52 you will need a 5mm spacers and 225 tyres.

ET 43 is perfectly possible however you will need some negative camber and a reasonable ride height to make them fit. 255 or 265 tyre.

IMO 9s are a bit small for the rear.

For 18 inch wheels front aspect 40 and rear 35. Ps. Looking forward to seeing how those wheels look.

Hello again all

So I finally get to see the car this weekend! I'm flying in on Saturday and driving back to SF.
I got the wheels I showed earlier, it was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. Turns out that 2 tires needed patches for nails, but other than that they are all good.

Going to see how the ride is stock, as it sits now, but plan on doing some mild upgrades in the recent future, while I save up to do the bodywork

I have already purchased a DME relay for the trip up, any other recommendations outside of normal stuff?

Let the next chapter begin!

She cleaned up nicely, like the wheels too.
Remember to take your dad on a road trip.
