Default C2 vs C4

I am looking at some 964's. How much heavier is the C4 vs the C2? Any additional maintenance on the C4? Is the C4 torque split rear biased and fixed or variable? I just don't know enough about the C4? I haven't driven them in a very long time so can't remember.

100kg heavier

More maintenance; more CV joints to look after, front diff seals are "consumables", bleeding the 4wd which some people seem to make a drama out of but is no big deal really, 4wd hoses and slave cylinders to maintain - much cheaper nowadays thanks to 9m.

Fixed under normal conditions 30/70. The PDAS controller can give vary upto 50/50. And PDAS can also lock the rear diff.

the high pressure system for bleeding is the same as the turbo.. and the widebody C2 versions (like the america roadster), no?

Assuming they have the hydraulic servo brakes like the C4, then a it's similar, just more of a fiddle, there are a couple of extra bleed points, one at each slave cylinder and one at the control solenoid.

if you live in the sun, I cant see why you'd want a 4
if you live in the 'cold rain and snow', I don't see how you wouldnt

it's funny you say that because here in Canada, you don't see many C4, and you see a LOT of convertibles. Simply because after a certain point, people use their cars only as summer cars and store them all winter.
I guess the C4 is a good choice when you drive it all year round where winters are not too harsh (and they don't put too much salt on the roads)

I have both. The C4 is very reliable and not a worry. My preference is driving the C2 because the car is lighter and I like the rear wheel drive feel. But the C4 is nice to have in wet roads. My advice is drive both and see if you notice a difference.

Can't fault the above statements about the all weather capabilities of the C4.

However the C4 when set up perfectly makes for a seriously balanced, progressive, grippy track car that you can take huge liberties with that I wouldn't attempt with a C2.
