Default wanted old engine mounts

Hey guys,

do you have a set of old engine mounts in your basement? I'd like to do some measurement and play with them. But I can't take my existing set off my car. If you wanna get rid of them. Let me know.

Thanks

I might still have mine - I dont remember if we tossed then after my engine build last year - if I do I'll bring them when I pick up the exhaust...

FT,

Off topic but I love your signature - how did you create that?

Thanks,

TJ

I have my old ones which you can have for the cost of shipping (probably cheapest is priority mail flat rate box)

TJ, I just found the pic off somewhere on the net. You are welcome to use it. I believe there is a color version somewhere as well.

Anyone know how much different are the design of the 964 mounts compare to 993 mounts? I understand that they are interchangeable.

Just replaced mine with solid ones designed for the 996. I'd definintely think the 993 would be interchangeable with the 964 mount.

What exactly are you looking to discover?

Did mine yesterday! This is well written up in an earlier post. Main difference is the 993s don't have the rubber cushion underneath - straight replacement but the triangle washers need to be reversed.

Where did you buy your 993 engine mounts? from a Porsche dealer or aftermarket?

Mine are Porsche originals bought off Ebay a few years ago at a bargain price.

Tomato,
I'm curious about your plans/experiments. I have contemplated taking my old failed mounts that have leaked all of the oil, and inject a rubber liquid back into the housing. I believe that Energy Suspension offers a kit of liquid to use in stiffening up motor and trans mounts.

right now, i have similar idea. But also like to get precise measurement. My uncle has a metal fab shop. Wondering if he can come up with something.
I thought it is worth it to invest a little time into this. If we could figure out something to revitalize the old tired mount.

you dont need to buy a kit if you want to inject polyurethane. Just buy them off homedepot. they have different hardness grades from windows sealer to concrete adhesive.

Got a pair of shot engine mounts from a local rennlister.

Since the old mounts are sagging. does anyone have measurements from Good mounts? Or perhaps measurement from wevo mounts?

I understand sagging mounts are shot. Besides that, do engine mounts ever extend/sag during normal operation? Could someone explain to me how do these hydraulic fluid filled mounts work?

I would also be interested in those measurements. I want to make some myself.

I replaced mine, but am not convinced they needed to be replaced. What particular dimensions do you want?
