The answer should be : Length of spacer before it was cut, and after it was cut, unless you can tell us length of cutoff piece and width of cut and amount of trimming after.
Just saying.

LOL, I wasn't sure if you were pulling my leg or what. For reference, .01mm is ~.0004 inches, which, if you're really measuring, is pretty damn precise (hence my question, "Around?!")

Thanks for all the intel; I'll get this done tomorrow and post back.

Just a suggestion, but I would mount the fan without the spacers in place to see how it fits, then when you are happy, take some measurements for the length of the spacers.

I did the cutting in June last year so do not remember the exact amount cut off. However, for some odd reason I kept the cut off bits in my tool box which I measured for you and posted earlier.
Anyway a few photos to show you that I really measured and that the cut was not the best hence why I filed to finish them off:

I thought I was a pack rat... Impressed.

Like the idea about positioning the fan first, too- probably better than "lop off 5mm and hope for the best!"

+1 - Shorten your spacers. The distance is listed in Adrian's book. If memory serves, its 6mm.

required length = 29 plus or minus .5mm
Weissach didn't bother to change or cut my bushings.
I found the blower on its side, with the bolts astray.
At 110/hr you would wonder why they thought the gap was acceptable.

Which is why Scan is where I take my car.

Damn, I forgot to post a followup. I took off ~5.5mm from the spacers and now have a nice tight joint there. Thanks to all who set me on the right path!
