Sunroof delete - almost...

Sunroof delete - almost...
Whilst my car is in its totally disassembled state and the interior gutted I'm trying to do all the big mods now. One such mod I'd like is the sunroof delete. However... with all funds now allocated to various parts of the project there isn't any left for this one. So what I'm proposing to do at this stage is all the nasty grinding and cutting prep to remove the big sunroof box and simply bond back in the existing sunroof lid until the time comes to tackle it properly. Externally everything should look normal? This will at least allow me to fit the half rear roll cage, finish the interior and drive the damn car :-)
Question is, will this approach work?

Give Steve in Iver a ring rob as I'm sure he's a man to give you a honest yes or no & tell you your friggin nuts!!
I sealed up a 3.2 race car roof so it looked like the felt until you got real close and looked at it & I think he welded it up until the customer had funds for a tin top roof...
Ps.. and now your nearly done can I book you for the underside refurb of mine as I know you get bored over our cold uk winters....

Haha :-D I'd want a bigger warmer garage before thinking about another. I swear the job was as hard due to the number of layers I was wearing :-D
I'll give him a shout. I certainly wouldn't want to replace the entire roof panel. The end game would be to just have one of those flanged infill panels welded in. Or failing that just leave the existing sunroof panel bonded in. The aim is to gain more head room when wearing a crash hat. I don't mind retaining the sunroof look externally.

A fenn panel is the way to go if you don't want the cost of a new roof that's for sure but in robs post he said he's trying to not spend £££ as funds are low & even when a panel is only £150 after getting it installed, prep, roof paint.f&r screens out it going to cost way more than £150 & for now he only needs it for head room for his lid when on track so I think this may solve his problem untill the funds are flush again...... doing it this way it will cost him a bit of time,a drink for the welding & a cuppa tea & cake for me to seal it up. we all know what money pits 964's can be and I've certainly spent way more on mine than what I thought!!

Sorry for the slight hijack, but other than bolting a seat to the floor, has anyone got any recommendations for lower seats? I can't find anything definitive on the subject online.
The most anyone seems to say is "no higher than the standard seat it replaced".
I'd like to drop 2 inches if possible without resorting to bolting a seat to the floor as I use my 964 for family transport and need access to the rear seats.

1) the height of the the side mount holes
2) the depth of the bulb at the bottom of the seat
There is a fairly wide range in both areas
here's a comparison of 2 Recaro seats
I'm 6' 1" and found that no matter what seat w/ sliders the sunroof had to come off to use a helmet w/o bouncing off the roof
